Freya grew up in Seneca Knolls with her older sister, June, and her father (her mother had previous committed suicide). Her life was fairly normal -- she got decent grades, her taste in boys wasn't particularly questionable, she had a few friends and she stayed out of trouble -- and not especially noteworthy until prom night, 1994. She was overwhelmed by a sudden influx of strange voices into her head and slipped into a catatonic state. She was committed to a mental hospital (Brookeridge), where she would spend the next eight or nine years of her life.
Schizophrenic cataleptics don't read Dickens.
In 2002, Freya was released into the care of Dr Welles, of TetCorp. Dr Welles concluded that she was not, in fact, schizophrenic, but rather she was a telepath. Dr Welles taught her how to function in society again; essentially, how to control and use her power. This use would be for her advantage...and for TetCorp's.

In 2003, Freya was partnered with NSA agent Brendan Dean in NYC on her first venture back into the outside world. Agent Dean was assigned to the case of terrorist Gazal; Freya was intended to be merely an observer, and Agent Dean had no idea of her other abilities. When he did find out, he was initially distrustful, but eventually was won over -- largely by being given a guilt trip by Dr Welles. They worked together to apprehend the terrorist (who was killed in the end); after this, Agent Dean was recruited to TetCorp (another Welles influence) and ceased working for the NSA.
For the last four years, Dean and McAllister have been working together for TetCorp.
Arrival In Hell:
Recently, TetCorp tested an experimental piece of machinery, designed to focus on and locate specific groups of people -- powered or nonpowered, for example. Following this, TetCorp is dispatching folks to the various places lit up by Cerebro (or whatever we're calling it in Kingverse). These people will pose as FEMA, come bearing supplies, and generally suss out what's going on.
