"Everyone's entitled to one good scare!"

Well, at least it didn't completely suck.

I ventured out of my apartment yesterday because I'd snagged a ticket for the opening day of Halloween several weeks ago. The movie has been getting positive reviews and could possibly set a box office record. I'm glad for all concerned that audiences have such a soft spot for the original that they would rush to see this sequel.

But... I thought the movie disappointed in just about every aspect. It's not scary, for one thing. Just about every scare is telescoped before it arrives, which pretty much undercuts the suspense. Then there's both a lack of focus and of narrative. Is this the story of Laurie Strode or her daughter (or even her granddaughter)? Pick one, people!

It was great to see Jamie Lee Curtis back on the big screen, and she does an incredible job with what she's given. But Halloween is a disappointment, despite the participation of Ms. Curtis. Save your money.

Now for Another Hot Caturday Guy.
