I had a close call Friday morning.
I woke up and immediately felt... something... in my mouth. I was still groggy, and so I instinctively swallowed. Big mistake. My throat muscles immediately began to spasm and simply wouldn't release. Looking back, I'd estimate that my trachea was about 90% blocked. It made it nearly impossible to get any air into my lungs. I honestly thought I was going to die.
Somehow, I managed to keep a level head despite the fact that I was worried about choking to death. I told myself to relax and to simply get as much air into my lungs as I could. I tried to assume my best yoga attitude - calm and tranquil - because I knew that was going to be the only way out of the situation. This went on for about 15 minutes with no change. But my throat did finally start to relax, letting me take more and more air in. I was finally able to get up and take a couple of Benedryl tablets to treat what I assumed was an allergic reaction to whatever had been my mouth. After another half hour or so, everything was back to normal.
I'm guessing that the culprit here was a spider. I'm a mouth breather when I sleep, so it would have been easy enough for an eight-legged critter to make it's way in. And we've had tons of spiders around the apartment complex these past few weeks, so it makes sense. I just hope it never happens again.
Now for Another Hot Guy.
