Back in Rochester

So on my way out to San Francisco the plane is delayed getting to Rochester and ends up leaving about 2 hours late. This means that I arrived about an hour too late to possibly make my connection and am therefore stranded in Cincinnati for the night. Since they hate me then they claim that I'd be able to get my suitcase for the night and could come back in the morning and check it back in. This turns out not to be the case so I end up being forced to wear the same clothes again on top of the fact that I will be going straight from the airport to Google in now day old clothes. Delta will only subsidize the hotel they put me in and still charge me $45 for the night. Google ended up picking up the tab, but it is utterly obnoxious that Delta was going to make me pay. The first flight out to San Francisco in the morning leaves at 9am and arrives at 10:50am. Sadly, I was supposed to be at Google by 9am... I called Google and caught them up on my situation and they were very helpful and tried to rearrange things such that I could get all of my interviews in and still try to participate in the College Day events. So, I end up having to wake up at o'Dark:30 in order to get my plane in Cincinnati, I shower and put on my dirty clothes. Go to the airport and sit watching the minutes tick away. Everything is on time and ok with my flight and I get into San Francisco. I'm the first one off the plane and impatiently wait at the baggage claim because every second counts to me at this point. My luggage is in the first dozen or so bags and I grabbed in, ran to the bathroom and quickly change into my suit. Run out of the airport and grab a cab. Estimated cab far to Mountain View from the airport == $100... I ask if I can pay with credit card because I don't have that kind of cash and he says a personal check would be ok. Luckily, I had decided to bring my checkbook (I always travel with my passport and checkbook for some reason). Cab is off towards Google, things are starting to look better. Arrive at Google a few minutes before noon, and check in with the College Day people. It seems like they all know who I am as I'm the only one who had any sort of flight problems. My schedule is to sit for about an hour and then have my interviews and then go to the ice cream social, and then the other interviewees would leave and I'd have another interview and then go home myself. They gave me the option to move my last interview to right then and I said why not, I figured the stress of just sitting there doing nothing would be worse than having the actual interview and being able to leave with all of the other interviewees.

Overall the interviews went pretty well. I feel like I demonstrated that I can think about difficult problems on my feet even when under heavy stress and little sleep. I should be hearing back from Google sometime in the next week or so. I'm really hoping things work out.

Next week is my Microsoft interview, I only hope that I don't have to deal with this all over again next week.

So now I bring out my list of Companies that suck and I get to add Delta to it. As it stands the list is now:
Maxtor
Delta

Delta, you should be proud!
