I am here! In NYC! in basically the coolest apartment ever! yeah, it is right across the street from the union square whole foods, and down the block from the flagship barnes and noble. the cool place where i bought my cool jacket is across the street! seriously!

it is so nice. the cable is still on, i have a tv in my bedroom with a STEREO and a dvd player. i have... pretty much never had that, unless you include dorm rooms and my computer functioning as my dvd player and stereo... haha so yay! in conclusion, I am monstrously and unworthily lucky. very cool. the only teeeeny drawbacks are the shower drain draining verrrrry slow and the fact that the heat in the computer room and the kitchen just blows out cold air. i don't know where the thermostat might be, or if there is one, or how to adjust this kind of radiator, so i might be staying in the bedroom mostly for awhile. there is a public wireless network on the street though, so i should be able to get access from my mac at barnes and noble or the whole foods cafe. i am very cold at the moment though, hehe.

got in yesterday at about 2, lexi and my dad had to leave right away though because we had gotten a late start and alexis needed to finish some homework at school. yoni (the guy whose aunt is lending me her apartment while she is in israel) and i wandered around the many bookstores in the area attempting to track down a hardcover copy of the eyre affair. while we weren't successful in that venture, i did find a 1944 copy of the joy of cooking for $1.00. i would give it to Ben and Lesley as part of their wedding gift, except i want to keep it for myself. it is the shit, trust me. um, what else? after an afternoon of (mostly) window shopping and wandering, we came back here to watch the oscars with whit and matty kotowski. it was soooo much fun. we were being really loud (if you know matt and whit, they look like two dudes, but together the sound volume is equal to a small western european army if something excites or frustrates them) at some point and i realized that i might have neighbors that aren't even MINE that might be bothered by such a ruckus at 10 pm on a sunday. we tried to keep it down after that. tried being the operative word. anyway, it was fun.

it was nice having people to hang out with yesterday afternoon, made the transition much less lonely. funny that my move to tufts for summer classes was significantly more lonely/isolated that my nyc pseudo-move.

oh and one of the stores we checked out to look for the eyre affair (which was really good, btw) had this book called 'the dreaming tree' and the first paragraph on the back was very evocative of the song. we thought that was pretty funny, especially because it was one of those vaguely creepy fantasy novels. hokay, time to get some research done and start pounding the pavement for part-time job applications. yay!

p.s. if anyone has heard from jenny davis lately 1) let me know and 2) tell her to freaking call me! i need to see her and i want to know what the name of the restaurant she works in because she makes a killing there!
