As the sweat from their lovemaking cooled on tangled bodies underneath equally tangled sheets, Michael shifted, hoping not to disturb Cho as she lay curled against him. Their relationship had taken a turn since he'd revealed the full extent of his magical injuries during the last few pensieve memories. It was bound to happen eventually given their past, and neither seemed to question or mind too terribly much; it was like slipping on a favourite old shirt on a dreary day. So very comfortable and comforting.
Like coming home, in a way.
But still Michael held back, not giving himself totally to the woman next to him. So close and he couldn't take that final step because to do so would mean drowning in a sea of thick, cloying emotions he wasn't capable of facing right now.
He felt his control slipping away more and more each day. He hated that this... affliction defined and directed his life for so very long.
Fighting off the post-coital slumber that beckoned like a siren's song, he traced light fingertips of one hand along the curve of her back for several minutes before finally threading them through her long hair.
"I talked to Remus about bringing you back into the Order," Michael remarked, his voice muzzy and low.
