Luna stood on the edge of the property looking back at the great house. Only moments before she'd been in the kitchen and now she was outside, wriggling her bare toes in the grass, somewhat crispy and brown from the heat of the summer.

She'd never had a chance to take her Apparition test. Or actually practise it herself. Battles had gotten in the way and so such foundation learning had been put to the wayside.

But in Michael's Library, Luna had found a book.

A Beginner's Guide to Magical Travel

Michael didn't know that she'd taken it. If he had, he might have asked her why or wondered what she was attempting. Instead she silently tucked it under her under her blouse and left his library.

Everyone else was busy these days. Susan was always in the city working hard so everyone could have proper groceries and she'd only just been able to find an old copy of the Prophet... which made mention of how Penelope had been arrested. Luna had merely thought she was working too much and now there was talk of what sort of rescue mission could be done. Before this information, Terry had been helping Michael with something that Luna didn't know about and Ron and Hermione... well they were still working on bringing Harry back which meant they had to leave Penelope to the rest of the Order.

So Luna was by herself, little help to anyone.

So she practised.

The interest in learning this had started the moment her new wand had slid into her hand. She'd spent the last few weeks just refreshing her brain with the easier spells. Summoning came quickly. She found her purple sock that way, which was nice because she had been missing it since it disappeared last week.

Transfiguration was a little harder and she'd still not been able to get that chair to settle down and sit properly after she tried turning it into a kangaroo.

But Apparition. That had been her most difficult. And yet... she'd managed to get herself outside today.

With a smile of satisfaction at her progress, Luna rubbed her forehead. It was then that her face fell as she puffed out her cheeks with a sigh of slight failure.

Walking back to the house, she hoped no one had made off with the eyebrow that she'd left behind.
