.317 - What do you have from your childhood?
Nadia doesn’t have much from her childhoold, after all, everything she had had was on Earth and that had been destroyed. Even if it hadn’t and was still there, waiting for them, nearly 1000 years had passed, it wouldn’t be the world that she (barely) remembers anymore. She has nothing physical to hold, to touch, to feel, so those few precious memories she does have, she holds onto those with everything she’s got.
She remembers a birthday party with bright balloons and a cake, unwrapping a gift, the crinkling of the paper and the dress in a dark blue that fitted her like a dream and swished and swirled as she spun in circles in her garden, people around her. She remembers being elbow deep in mud and bugs as she quietly stalks after a butterfly as it rests on a leaf and hearing her mother’s voice calling for her, scaring it away. She turns but - as with every other memory - her mother is just a voice, a faceless figure like all the people in her memories.
Hypersleep tried to take everything from her, so all those bits that she does remember she clings to holding onto them like each memory is a loud fuck you to the people - the person, Corporal Gallow - that did this to her.
