It had been a weeks worth of ups and downs. A wasted trip to Purina due to what I thought was a dirty lens. News that the pain in my back might be something bad and my old friend GunInMouth for the first wave of treatment. A Bad haircut finished off my Wednesday.
Thursday, weeks of dental anxiety (and avoidance) was met with good dental news.
Friday was met with bad camera news which, on Saturday got worse before it turned to good through desperate acts on my part. I'd wanted the camera working because Dawny and I decided that I would probably be able to see the Aquatennial fireworks from Purina. Running up to the roof for pictures has more or less become routine, at this point, but fireworks might make it a special event. I decided that if I was going to be there for something like that, something more than scotch was in order.
What I'd wanted was a few cold beers. What happened was a little different.
I decided to romance myself a little.
I brought a shitty plastic glass as well, just in case, but I'm pleased to say I made it there, in, up, out, and home with the real glass intact.
Dawny was right, I had a pretty good seat, for being so far away.
They were shiny.
And sparkly.
And some looked like titties.
Granted, weird titties, but titties nonetheless.
Wider.
I like the silhouette here.
Firecrackers!
Shiny!
Eventually the firecrackers were finished. They were nice, from the roof. I'd wanted a chance during the day to find access to a better roof, but Purina's nice because it's within walking distance. Which has advantages. Like wine.
I seem to be getting some reflection between the lens and the haze filter on the long lens. This is cleanable, but I didn't bother. I think I'll take the filter off and just take my chances. On the one hand, it's my only "big" lens. On the other hand, it's hardly nice glass.
Lord of all I survey.
Bitches.
(Should have retaken this so the wine glass wasn't hidden. Alas. The wireless remote is great for rapid shooting, but there's a laziness involved as well in that I'm not necessarily checking everything I should between shoots. It's hard to get (any more) carried away with trying to capture the perfect self portrait.)
I still have to go through and post some images from the last time we were in there properly (MPuzzle and I). There were some nice shots from deep inside The Long Dark that would be fun to share.
