I'm back from vacation!
It's not really THAT exciting.
I was in St.Louis the past few days for my cousin Paul's graduation. Left Thursday at about noon with my grandparents and drove about 5 hours into Dayton Ohio where we stopped for the night because it was storming. Left the next morning and drove another 5 or 6 hours until we hit St. Louis. Note to everyone: Gameboy is the greatest invention ever. I get carsick kinda on long drives and my GBA gave me something to distract myself with.
So we rolled in Friday afternoon and exactly one-eighth of the world's population was at my uncle's house. I don't recall much about Friday. Cousin entertainin', eating, what not. My dad flew in on Saturday (he drove my car to Cleveland airport to fly out from there! No one drives my car! Since coming home, I haven't checked on it. I hope it's okay). In the afternoon was Paul's graduation. Graduation class of 520+ kids! Jeebis!
Found something out during the amazingly long graduation process. Courtney (my other cousin) was sitting next to me playing with her IPod. I took it from her and started fiddling with it, so she took one earplug out and shoved it into my ear so I could share in IPodness. She didn't have very good music on it, but I found a few things. I must now say something:
I do not like music as much as I used to.
I do not have a single MP3 on my computer.
But suddenly I do not know how I live without an IPod. I think those things are magic. I had one in my ear for 30 minutes and suddenly I'm all "I MUST PROCURE THIS TECHNOLOGY OF SPINNY PAD MUSIC STICK!".
After that was a nice post-graduation event at the family house with more eating and even more people. I eventually got into the pool where there was some kind of Girls vs. Boys keep away thing going on. It was a violent game and I was just laughing inwardly thinking "awww....teenage flirting". It was endearing. At about 10, Paul and his friends to go to something called Party Central where the kids can go hang out at the high school all night LOCKED IN and partake in whatever. Is this a common event? They had games and LOCKED THE KIDS IN THE HIGH SCHOOL. I can't get over how funny that is.
Sunday came and most everyone left. I swam some more and spent a lot of time bouncing back-and-forth between the kids and the adults. Everyone at this graduation was either upwards 15 years older than I or at least 8 years younger. So I moved fairly fluidly in and out of the groups. It was nice, I guess. More eating. Pulled pork. I tried pushing it a little, but it did not turn back into regular pork. It's still good.
Monday was a drive out to wine country and WOW...I did not know St. Louis had hills and nice views. I just assumed it was all uberflat. But not. The winery was on a hilltop. Non-alcoholic me had cheese and Strawberry Lemonade. Looked through Courtney's sketchbook; girl can draw like whoa. Got bit by a spider. It still itches. After that we went Putt putt gold. I was good, but had a mini-collapse between holes 5 and 9. Would have won had I not taken the bloody 7 on the 6th hole. Not even a difficult course, I was just startlingly inable to putt the ball into the hole after I got past the actual obstacles. But I WAS the only one who putted a free game at the little challenge thing at the end. Boss.
We got home and I bopped around a bit. Courtney, Grammy, Uncle Jeff, and Aunt Sandy played pea-knuckle (See how I do not even try to spell that?) and tried to teach me. Suddenly I know what others think when I am teaching them YGO. Paul snatched me away to be play High School Subterfuge with him as he drove over his friends' house to pick up some bootleg porn or whatever. They showed me his XBox 360. I was unimpressed. I wanted to go home.
Got home, talked to Cassie online and went upstairs where Paul was watching Law & Order: CI and we had this exchange.
Me: This is the worst porn ever.
Paul: This is just TV.
Me: Yes, I know. I was....nevermind.
Paul: If you want to watch it, it's right here.
Me: Yeah, no. I'm talking to a real live girl downstairs.
Continued talking to Cassiopeia until midnight, such is what I seem to do every night now, then went to bed. Was woken up at FIVE THIRTY IN THE MORNING to get a shower and start heading home.
Again, Gameboy love followed for much of the trip. But we made it in one day, and I got home last night around 8. Got some laundry washed, unpacked a bit, showered.
And today is Wednesday.
And I'm not at work.
I had an optional Wednesday vacation day I scheduled because I didn't know what time Tuesday we were leaving, and whereas I got home incredibly early and ready to do whatever, I am still feeling the effects of car-sickness or something else that was invaded me and I felt horrible this morning. Still feeling cruddy, hoping my upcoming shower will alleviate this. After that, I'm going in to work to pick up my paycheck and going off to deposit that so I can pay my car insurance. My bank account is hungry right now. But it should be a good paycheck, as this week's should be, so I can catch back up on bills. Ooooo. I had a phone bill waiting for me, too. Blast. Well, I like to pretend I can catch up. Next week: Last month's student loan payment.
Tonight: Hoping to talk to Erin and Cassiopeia and webcomic chums tonight (and anyone else that wants to IM me, but really....who am I foolin'). Also: job hunting. Haven't done so in a while now and need to get back on that horsey. Fun times? Woooo? We'll see.
