[“Loneliness is just about the scariest thing out there” Joss Whedon]
His life is filled with noise again. Dean snores and he tosses. He turns and he drums his fingers on every available hard surface. He sings off key and bangs doors shut. He bitches at Sam with every other breath.
And it’s awesome.
Sam doesn’t have a moment to himself and he couldn’t be happier. Occasionally he wants to scream, he wants to get out of the room or strangle Dean.
And then he remembers
Exactly
What
Silence
Sounds
Like.
He remembers how it feels to know he’s never going to see Dean or hear him or God forbid bitch at him. And Sam wants to hug Dean. He wants to fall down on his knees and thank God for bringing him back. Instead he says a quiet prayer under his breath and tries not to stare at the brother he lost.
The brother he never wants to lose again.
