I started going to a driving school last week, but I must say it is so expensive it's a robbery in broad daylight. I had my first driving lesson today and some twenty minutes into my driving my instructor asked me if I had interest in motorsports. I suppose from now on I should tone down my enthusiasm, when stepping on accelerator >;D
Some things I find amusing and/or exasperating about it though. I had to take a photo when I signed up and they insisted on me taking my earrings out, but when I asked for a reason I got no straight answer. I hate that. No reason, but it is 決まっている so you have to do it. In the end I took some of my earrings out, but I refused to remove an industrial piercing. To be honest I just don't know how and I have no intention of ever trying to do that lol I also had to do a little kanji test, write a reading for driving-related words in hiragana. I asked if I had to do it because I was a foreigner, but the receptionist told me everyone had to take the test. I guess they check it to make sure that people can read textbooks, but I don't think people can be that ridiculously illiterate. Oh, but the best part is, when we leave the school after the very last lesson in the evening, the school staffs of about one hundred people stand outside waving to us passing by in the school buses *rofl*
The reason why I decided to go to a driving school is that I will not have time to do that in a few months, when I start a new job, and it's a useful skill to have. Plus, if I have to work in a car industry, I better know what it is about lol And that is the main change as a matter of fact. In autumn I am quitting my current job and starting a new one. I sent an official acceptance notice yesterday, signed and seal-stamped. Maybe I should have signed it in blood, I sold my soul after all. It seems that I will be around this island for a long time after all.
But next few months are going to be such a pain! I need to find a new apartment and move, get a car and I still have work to finish and a conference in Europe to attend right before I change jobs. And maybe while I am at it, I should find an apartment that allows pets and get a cat ;D
