Eavesdropping
What most commonly refer to as "eavesdropping" Becker considers "being informed" so he really sees no harm in it, not when it prevents certain instances say for example like one Connor Temple taking a high dive off the nearest ledge in pursuit of some dinosaur.
Becker likes to think that the better informed he is the better chance he has of keeping everybody alive and prevent further anomaly excursions, he's really had his fill of those.
It's easy enough to do, a concentrated look at the scattered monitors and it's truly amazing the sorts of things people will say when they don't think you're listening. They should know better, Becker's always listening.
And then there are the not so important snippets that in the grand scheme of things mean nothing at all, examples include: "Did I leave the oven on?" - "Must buy milk on the way home" - "I wonder why he hasn't called" and then the very benign: "God, I wished I'd called in sick today".
Those he chooses to ignore and at some point he does switch off, actually doing the work he's pretending to do, but the good thing about him is that most (with the exception of Connor) people have the good sense to leave him well enough alone.
Above all else he listens to Abby and Connor, no matter what... stupid topic they might be discussing such as "Coffee is amazing!" and "Tea is better, Connor", but what they say is important because he spent a year or so thinking they were dead and that hurt more than he likes to let on.
The less said about the better, especially in conversations around the ARC because honestly? The place has ears and eyes, Jess' in particular.
That said it's in everybody's best interests if Becker listens.
