30 Days of December Meme

Dec 31, 2009 16:30

30 Days in One! (I am not entirely sure why it's a 20 Days of December meme when there are 31 days in the month. I figure that makes posting it on December 31st appropriate.)

Day 01 Your favorite song
Chicago is so Two Years Ago by Fall Out Boy

I was going to upload it, but I'm way too lazy.

Day 02 Your favorite movie
Jurassic Park

Day 03 Your favorite television program
I am choosing Flashpoint and Castle as this years favourite shows that I have not watched in any previous years. It is impossible for me to choose a favourite television show.

Day 04 Your favorite book
'Harriet the Spy' by Louise Fitzhugh is my most well-worn book, so I am selecting it as my favourite. I received it as a birthday gift from my best friend in primary school back in fourth grade and I loved it. I've read it on a few separate occasions since then which is more than I can say for most other books, even the ones I love I tend not to re-read. What I really like about 'Harriet the Spy' is that, in my opinion, it's a very honest book about a young girl trying to make sense of the world around her, and dealing with real issues like feeling ignored by your parents, losing a loved one, learning about and dealing with the consequences of your actions, having your friends turn on you, and just growing up. Harriet is far from perfect, she makes mistakes, she can be petty, blunt, and callous and that's why she's one of my favourite characters of all time.

Day 05 Your favorite quote
“What the effing crap? That angel guy just felt me up.”

Day 06 Whatever tickles your fancy

I am now a believer in the tragic, forbidden love of Ariel and Aladdin.

Day 07 A photo that makes you happy
Anything with Patrick in it! Eg:

Or Spencer Smith smiling...

Day 08 A photo that makes you angry/sad
I'm sorry, but I still get all upset when I see old photos of them together. Because. Oh, don't you remember when they were happy? And... And best friends!

Day 09 A photo you took

Day 10 A photo of you taken over ten years ago
Me with my Great Grandma and a Kangaroo

Day 11 A photo of you taken recently

This is from a picture someone took at Alex's birthday party (I seriously cannot remember who took this one, I just saw myself and was like "I am so saving this!" So, if it's yours, thank-you.). I was all "Check me out, I am Rose and there is food in front of me!" And the Hey Monday shirt could be canon. You can't prove it's not.

Day 12 Whatever tickles your fancy
This is one of my favourite videos of The Academy Is... Because, you know, Sisky and Beckett. They're awesome together. And, like, their contradictory advice XD!

Day 13 A fictional book
'Shade's Children' by Garth Nix. Because it was an awesome book that also majorly creeped me out.

Day 14 A non-fictional book
'Wishful Drinking' by Carrie Fisher. Surprisingly intelligent, witty and dry. Seriously made of win.

Day 15 A fanfic
The first Mike Carden/Kevin Jonas fic I ever read. Also, I believe, the first actual Mike/Kevin fic ever written and posted online: http://skoosiepants.livejournal.com/317292.html

Exerpt: “Let me get this straight,” Nick says, ignoring Joe’s snickers. “You accidentally implied that Mike Carden is a rapist.”

Summary: "In which there is an elevator, a bet and the VMAs, leading to drunkenness, misunderstandings, and some approximation of dating. Mike is prickly, and Kevin is unwittingly a douche."

Day 16 A song that makes you cry (or nearly)
'What A Catch, Donnie' by Fall Out Boy. Shut up, it's sad, okay!

and 'A Pensieve Full Of Unrequited Love' by the Mudbloods. It's so fun and bouncy and then the lyrics are all kind of depressing so the entire thing just becomes bittersweet. And it made me want to be in a wrock band. Despite not liking the franchise, wtf. Such is its power.

Or it might be prettier to listen to it over at their Myspace: http://www.myspace.com/mudbloods

Day 17 An art piece (painting, drawing, sculpture, etc.)
Vermeer's Woman Holding a Balance

Day 18 Whatever tickles your fancy
Bedussey, starring Peter Wentz and Patrick Stump:

Day 19 A talent of yours
Recapping. I am fantastic at recapping. Like you wouldn't believe.

Day 20 A hobby of yours
Bossing other people around! And interfering in their lives and shoving my opinions in their faces even if they didn't ask for them!

Day 21 A recipe
I'm not really one for recipes - I'm generally more for throwing some stuff together and saying “yeah, that looks about right” - and I'm not going to go find one just to appease a meme, especially if I've never tried it, you know? I did make some awesome pasta last night, though, so I will share with you how I made it.

Step 1: Boil some pasta. This is fairly important when making pasta, yeah?
Step 2: Pour a bit of oil into a saucepan and add a can of diced tomato. Set the stove top/hot plate/whatever to whatever temperature you like. Personally I'm a fan of four. Don't forget to stir the sauce. It's a little gross when you don't stir.
Step 3: Add some garlic and sea salt to the saucepan of tomato. I like to use a lot of garlic, but you know, just throw in however much seems like a good idea. A little oregano is nice, too. Don't forget to keep on stirring.
Step 4: When the pasta is all boiled and cooked and stuff we do the straining. I would suggest a colander (unless you're trying to minimise the dishes or don't have a colander, or are too lazy to go get the colander). Put that pasta on a plate!
Step 5: When the sauce seems ready just pour it on over that pasta.
Step 6: Eat the freaking pasta.

I also make a mean egg sandwich so I will share that with you also! You know, just in case you totally hate pasta. It will make enough for two sandwiches.

Step 1: Boil yourself some eggs! If you like eating yolk boil two eggs, but if you are planning on removing the yolk I suggest boiling three eggs.
Step 2: After the eggs have boiled let them cool.
Step 3: Remove those darn egg shells to get to the delicious egg trapped within.
Step 4: It is now time to mash up the eggs. I like to use a fork for this. If you are removing the yolks it would be a good idea to so before mashing the eggs up. Personally I keep one yolk in and remove the other two. Mostly because it adds some colour.
Step 4: Add roughly one tablespoon of ricotta cheese.
Step 5: Add about two tablespoons or so of cottage cheese.
Step 6: Add in a light sprinkling of chives.
Step 7: Resume mashing the mixture with a fork until it is all good and mixed in.
Step 8: Spread onto some bread and eat that awesome sandwich!

Day 22 A website
The Academy Is... website: http://www.theacademyis.com/index.php
It sometimes has interesting stuff, if you like TAI. You can watch TAI TV which is mostly good.

Day 23 A YouTube video
Patrick performing 'Sophomore Slump' with Hall from hall & Oates and some other people. I am mostly selecting this one because Patrick PLAYS DRUMS IN IT and I can't seem to find the video of Patrick playing drums on 'Venom' for Mychem at Warped that time. Even though it was ENTIRELY AWESOME.

Anyway, Patrick is a fantastic drummer and he, you know, entirely loves drumming, so that just makes it all the more fantastic when he gets to be behind the kit.

Day 24 Whatever tickles your fancy
This is the first episode of Agents of Cracked:

The End Of The Beginning -- powered by Cracked.com

Day 25 Your day, in great detail
Okay, a brief overview of Christmas day would be:
Fell asleep at 2am. Slept badly. Woke up at 5am. Got up at 5:30am. Showered and dressed. Opened presents with the family. Finally got to eat breakfast. Stephen ate five eggs even though there weren't enough to go around. Listened to music while lying on a free bed. Ate lunch across the road with second cousins. There was a breeze and my salad got all sandy (waterfront = lame sometimes). Listened to some more music. Went for a walk with mum. Got caught in the rain. Complained about being hungry. Got a little sunburnt despite the mass amounts od sunscreen I applied. Ate tea. Listened to music. Read some of my book. Went to sleep.

Day 26 Your week, in great detail
I am taking this to mean Friday last week until today.
Spent Christmas at the coast with my family. Spent Boxing Day shopping at Pacific Fair and then coming home. The rest of the week has been spent home alone cleaning, watching movies and TV and rejoicing in having the internet again. I went shopping and walked 4 kilometres in doing so. I composed music on keyboard even though I don't actually know how to play keyboard. I wrote wrock lyrics even though I don't know very much about Harry Potter.

Day 27 This month, in great detail
I watched a lot of TV, applied for a lot of jobs, and still am unemployed.

Day 28 This year, in great detail
Ack. Detail. Um. How about a summary?
I saw two Fall Out Boy concerts in two days.
I enrolled in a BA and dropped out of my BA within the first four weeks.
I failed to be employed anywhere at all and only gained a handful of job interviews.
I watched a LOT of TV.
I got into an under 18 s concert for free and did my first and only concert review.
I saw two The Academy Is... and Anberlin concerts in two days.
I fangirled over Cobra Cam TV.
I wrote creepy Supernatural ovary-fondling fic.
I accepted an invitation to travel to the USA and Canada with Jo.
I actually spoke to and hung out with Jo.
I made my first ever tote bag out of a t-shirt.
I read Kevin Jonas/Mike Carden fanfiction.
I saw the start of the very first Kevin/Mike community.
I made my first ever fanmix.
I got someone else into bandom.
I started a lot of things that I never finished.

Day 29 Hopes, dreams and plans for the next 365 days
I hope to get a job. A nice job or a sucky job. A job that pays me money. And I hope to be ready for the USA and Canada trip of 2011!

Day 30 Whatever tickles your fancy
Open Happiness video. Every time the freaking Coca Cola ad comes on I giggle like loon because Brendon and Travie and Patrick. And the video is fun. Brendon being a dork and Patrick is a pilot!
