Weekend fun

This weekend was just a nice, stay in Salzburg kind of weekend. On Friday, we all met up to go to a park for a picnic! While we waited for Andrew and Melissa to arrive (they were late - for shame!), we totally played at the playground. That was a lot of fun and it was a beautiful day out, so we had a really great time. We sat and discussed possibilities of things to do while we're in awesome places on Spring Break. I think it was maybe Rachel that said at one point, "Guys, we just had a picnic in a park in a gorgeous little city that we're studying aboard in. And we were just planning out our Spring Break...I seriously don't think it gets any better than this!"

Speaking of Spring Break, this is where we're going:

-Flying to Dublin on March 31 (I know you said you'd kill me if I went to Ireland before you Daddy...I'm willing to take that risk! XD)
-Flying from Shannon, Ireland to Rome on April 3rd
-Flying from Rome to Girona, Spain (about an hour away from Barcelona) on April 7th
This next bit is still a bit up in the air:
-Flying from Girona to London April 10th
-Flying from London to Salzburg or Munich on either Friday or really early Saturday...
-then, meeting Aunt Debbie and Uncle Rick (and my parents, maybe?) in Munich on Saturday the 14 and spending the rest of the weekend with them!

It's going to be pretty packed, but I know we're going to get to see some really cool places! And one thing that we realized is that we're going to be in Rome on Easter weekend, not that that really makes a difference to me. That's going to be really insane though and I can only imagine all of the people coming there and going to Vatican City...

But anyways, back to last Friday...So, later in the evening, Rachel, Melissa and I went to see "Der kleine Horrorladen," "The Little Shop of Horrors" in German! We got student tickets in the last half hour before the show for only 6 Euro and sat in the third row! It was pretty cool ^_^

St. Patrick's Day we all met at O'Malley's, one of the Irish pubs around 4:00. We all pretty much had a Strongbow, which is this Irish cider. It was actually really good, way better than beer! We then headed up Linzergasse to get Döner Kebaps before the game.

I have yet to explain what a Döner is...It is pretty much the best hot sandwich ever. My dscription is probably going to sound really gross, but here goes: So there's this meat log of lamb rotating on a rotistery kind of thing. When you order a Döner, the guy shaves off some of the lamb right there and it's all warm and delicious, trust me! Then, the guy that we always go to, who we affectionately call "Kebap Mann" amongst ourselves, paninis the buns before putting the meat in. So, they're all ridgy and crispy. He then puts the meat in, with lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. He then puts on jogurt, which I know sounds really gross and I thought I wouldn't like it, but it's sooooo good. And last but not least, he sprinkles on spices if you want your Döner to be "scharf" or spicy. It's pretty much makes me the happiest person ever to eat one! lol! XD

That was a really lenthy description...anyways! We took the bus out to the stadium, which happens to be right next to Europark. We could hear the cheering before we could even see the stadium, it was pretty awesome. We got student standing tickets for 7 Euro and were standing behind one of the goals. The game was the Salzburg Red Bulls vs. FC Wacker Tirol (no idea what their name means). Before we even got into the stadium, Salzburg scored a goal and the crowd was going nuts. Salzburg ended up winning 3-0, which was pretty exciting. Here are some really crappy videos that I took with my camera:

Here's some random time in the game with the Tirol fans were shooting cannons or something. It was serious business:

This is near the end of the game when Salzburg got a penalty shot and scored! It was pretty exciting!

After the game, we headed back to the Altstadt, to the Shamrock, a different Irish pub right next to the other Irish pub that happens to also be owned by the same people...yeah. So, we went there and just had a table way at the back. We all had green beer and then when I finally finished mine, I topped the night off with a delicious Bailey's coffee! I was just trying to be as Irish as possible...We didn't end up staying late, we left at midnight and caught a bus home. It was kind of trying, going to the game and all. Here are some pictures:

All in all it was a good weekend and I'm pretty content with life right now. I hope the same goes for all of you! Let me know how you're doing ^_^
