Seth looked at all the extra clutter on his desk at headquarters. He had forgotten over his two day hiatus, to bring his paperwork with him as he usually did. It was standard procedure for him. It wasn’t as if he had a life outside of this world, save for caring for his son anyway, so why not do some of the catching up at his home. Gone were the protests of only doing this job for a short time until he could work up the energy to just go back home to England. The matter of his wife and her death due to mismanagement, was safely tucked away. Her superiors were not his and he didn’t have it in him to create a ruckus right now. Not when his son was settling in nicely, where they had relocated to here in New York.
Looking back at his desk, he sighed and began to create right and proper piles to sort through, fill out, and file. It bothered him about as much as running out of cream for his tea. It just wasn’t right, until all was organized. If his charge were not so active, maybe there would be less paperwork, but he doubted it greatly.
He continued to do this until he came across one file marked urgent. Now why on earth …oh yes, renewal papers and such. Must be for his new job duties. He hoped it included hazard pay. Now, that would be very nice indeed.
Filing in this and checking off that, he came to the standard question of who to call in case of emergency and blinked, stopping as he wrote in his wife’s name by mistake. Crossing it out, he wrote in a cousin’s name in Yorkshire as next of kin. They were the one that he would want Donald to go to in case of his demise. Considering his wife’s death, it was a possibility after all.
