On Balancing Powers

Jul 19, 2007 20:48

((Events in this post occur about half an hour after Other!Axel's impromptu visit.))Leaning lazily against the door jamb, Axel watched her with a blank expression, her quick movements and her newly acquired four inches, her frame starting to finally develop into one of power. She was aging faster these days (an event, Axel noticed, that only ( Read more... )

She nodded, not surprised, and turned her attention to the little construct. It wasn't hard to reach out to darkness, and call it forward. It wasn't at all dramatic; already she was learning to be comfortable and efficient with simple uses of power.

And normally, if he wasn't making a point, Axel would call back the darkness, try to make it harder on Terebas to control the miniaturized model.

Instead, Axel allowed Terebas to take over his hold, watched Terebas instead as the little guy stalked across.

She even had his gait down.

With a deeper smirk, Axel dropped his arm and continued. "Talk about easy, eh? That's not what this exercise is about, kid."

It wasn't that hard to picture his movements, and not very hard at all to make it real. Probably she couldn't have done the same for any other element, at least not yet.

She curved her hands slightly, making a safer little platform for the Axel-doll. '...What is it about?'

"Control." Axel crossed his arms, leisurely strolling a circle around Terebas, as he talked.

"If you can't control your own powers, you can't control yourself. Think about it this way, Darkness. Any idiot with raw power can unleash a flood, messy and aimless, most times bringing destruction on themselves. But it takes finite authority over your powers to completely overcome. Power versus strength. Can you appreciate the difference?"

She didn't turn completely with him, but turned her head to watch him circling, and she nodded slowly at his question. This was something she'd learned before - in substance, anyway, if not quite in style - from the others, though she lacked truly personal experience with it. She didn't yet speak, only listened.

Well, whether or not she understood at this point, she would be very versed in the concept once Axel was done.

"We're going to get you some finite control, Darkness. But let's not be like the Keyblade Master and bite off more than we can chew, yeah?" Axel tapped a finger on her wrist. "Here's the deal, kid. Go on your little tutoring session as you want but bring that little guy back in the exact form he is now. Not a spike missing, got it memorized~?"

(( 8D Have time to come online? ))

Terebas still doesn't know anything about the Keyblade Master or keyblades, really~. But Roxas is the one she thinks of.

Meanwhile, she blinks at Axel and then at the doll, tilting head and shifting hands to take a closer look (the doll turns his head, obligingly). She silent for several moments. 'That's a lot of spikes....' There's something in her tone, though, that's less dismayed than interested, even thoughtful.

Roxas and his whack-happy keyblade?

"Of course there are," Axel replies with a bit too much smirkiness in his tone. "It's an exact replica. Well, maybe not exact." Terebas was still too young for Axel to explain what he meant by that. "But if he's different when he comes back..." Axel's voice trailed off in a different tone, possibly one Terebas has never heard before.

She's yet to meet Sora, so~.

Terebas blinks again, surprised, and looks up at Axel. That tone.... 'What then?'

Axel smirked at her surprised expression. "Make sure it doesn't happen and you won't have to find out."

That's a little discomfiting, Axel. Telling that to someone with an active imagination-! D:

Terebas nods. Keep the doll in proper form, okay! She can do that.

...Though what'll she do about other lessons? Hm.

Hey, it's not like Axel outright made it a threat. He just said the mini-guy shouldn't come back changed, that's all.

He'll expect her to be able to do at least that much.

... That's a good question. And something she'll have to figure out. Just think of the reward she'll get once she finishes this little task.

"Better be careful, Darkness." Mini-me might just be a trouble maker. Maybe. Possibly.
