SG-1 novel review

Typed this up at work when I finished the book, and meant to post it yesterday but I forgot. D'oh. I blame my cold. :P

Review: SG-1 novel #15, The Power Behind the Throne by Steven Saville.

I used a cut just in case, but there are no plot spoilers or anything like that. Just my opinion on the story as a whole, without giving anything away to anyone considering reading this book.

Okay, so this is the second SG-1 novel I’m disappointed in. There was nothing wrong with the plot itself, IMO, just the way in which it was executed. There was too much OC point of view, and not enough SG-1 POV as a whole. Even when the team was physically together, they were apart in every other way, and except for a decent-sized chunk of the novel where Teal’c played a major role, it seemed as though SG-1 took a second seat to the OCs. I wasn’t very involved in the story because of this. I wanted to hear more about my favorite characters (SG-1) and their mental and physical struggles, not about the struggles of the OC villains and heroes.

So, I can’t really say I’d recommend ‘The Power Behind the Throne’ to anyone.
