i figured since it's 10 am, and i haven't slept all night i may as well give a semi-real update. break has been pretty nice, lots of sleep and such. i'm currently pretty sore from my little skiing excursion, however. i went up to boyne with nick for two nights. i've never skied at boyne before, but i really liked it (except for a minor incident that i'll discuss momentarily). anyway, the resort is amazing, and the hills were great. nick's mom was nice enough to let me use her skis and bindings (which surprisingly fit). her skis hadn't been used in about a year, but were really well taken care of--nice sharp edges, and nick and i waxed the bottom before we went out onto the hills.

so, all i can say is that it's been too long since i've skied because almost every muscle in my body still hurts. and while i'm pretty sure that half of it is from just getting out onto the hills, the other half comes from that nasty little incident i was talking about earlier. so, i haven't skied in about 3 years, but i figure it's like riding a bike. nick, on the other hand, is an avid skier. so, we start out with some basic hills and decide to build our way up. after about two hours i feel comfortable enough with the new skis and my skiing ability to tackle a double black diamond. well, it's winter break so there are children EVERYWHERE at boyne. for the record, i'd like to state now that i hate children, and they irritate me. so, anyway, we get off the lift and start skiing, and i'm doing remarkably well (skiing is like riding a bike) when this little 10 year old swerves directly in front of me. so, in my abundance of skiing wisdom i tried to cut so i wouldn't clobber the small child that was seriously like a foot away from me. well, i cut a lot faster than i should have and launched myself at the small child, who miraculously hit the ground before i hit him, landed on him, and squashed him... it seriously would have been like an elephant on an ant, no lie. well, so now i'm flying down the mountain when all of a sudden my right ski got stuck (and i'm talking like wedged) in the snow. i'll tell you that the effect of hurtling down a hill when all of a sudden one ski gets wedged is not a pretty scenario. i thought that every joint from my ankle to my hip was either out of place or had every ligament torn. there were seriously like twenty people that saw it and told the little rescue skier man. somehow i managed to get up and make it down primarily on my left leg when the kid's parents came to talk to me. apparently sonny had never been skiing before, so it's not really his fault. i wasn't so much in the mood to talk, but i did explain to his parents if he'd never skied before it was THEIR fault and that they were lucky that i didn't kill him or myself and that they were lucky that i didn't kill them right then and there. they weren't too happy about the encounter, but i figure i almost killed a child and myself, and it was their fault, so they deserved it. anyway, so my right side is pretty much out of commission for the next two to three weeks (or until it stops feeling like some hit every joint with a sledge hammer, i'll accept either scenario). outside of that little accident, i had an incredibly relaxing and enjoyable two days. nick and i both seem to hate the holidays (and probably for the same reason), so it was nice to get the hell away from everyone and just hang out.

alright, that's my sweet update. i figured i'd have something sooner or later and a nasty crash at boyne is exactly it. i hope everyone is having a fabulous christmas break. if you have nothing to do tomorrow come stop by the phi kap house for a new years' eve bash and bring friends:)

you treat me like
i'm a princess
i'm not used to
liking that
you ask how my day was
you've already won me over
in spite of me
and don't be alarmed if i fall
head over feet
and don't be surprised if i love you
for all that you are
i couldn't help it
it's all your fault
