What Kakashi said wasn't to insult the other at all. His red eye knew. The chakra paths within the woman's body were 'abnormal' enough for the jounin to know the difference. She wasn't human. Showing no change in expression to her prodding question, he observed what Iruka was doing on the side. One false move and it could be the end for the both of them. It was unsettling to not know what he was dealing with ( ... )

Rosiel pouted, ignoring Iruka fully. It wasn't fair that this newcomer could see he wasn't human. That was certainly cheating. He was human, after all, and had no right to just... see things inside him like that. The angel relaxed slightly when Kakashi shut that eye, but he didn't trust that to last for long. He was too good at making enemies - he would have to consider carefully this one's strange perception.

"Things that aren't correct intrigue me. Besides, you shouldn't be able to see like that, not with me." He took another step forward, now that the not at all dangerous weapons were out of sight. Then he smirked, putting a finger to his lips. "What do you think I am? And do you think I'm dangerous~?" he singsonged sweetly, hard eyes watching the masked man's every movement.

Iruka stared at Rosiel, his temper flagging with lack of attention. He wasn't used to people completely ignoring him like that. But he supposed he was in a different kind of situation now, with a different kind of person. Rosiel was starting to make the giant shuriken scar on Iruka's back twitch. She was an odd person, but this was... Iruka belatedly thought that trusting a Konoha jounin might fare better for his wellbeing instead of a woman he had met an hour ago. But she was just a civilian, right?

Well, if force wasn't about to get her attention, maybe a little playacting would. "Hatake-san is very adept at what he does," Iruka said, his voice much smoother than before. He flicked his eyes to to the other ninja, letting them stay there just a tiny bit longer than one might expect from two casual acquaintances.

"And why is that?" he asked curiously, now knowing for sure she wasn't human. Observing her change her demeanor again, Kakashi deeply thought of what she could possibly be. Akatsuki had come up with numerous ways to make someone 'abnormal' but there was always a 'human' involved before the change. Was she the same? Even though nothing about the woman said she was a ninja but she definitely had some kind of power. Something not to be taken lightly.

Briefly meeting eye with Iruka and then back to the woman's, Kakashi just honestly answered. "I'm not exactly certain what you are but I know it's something to take note of..." The jounin stopped there and waited to see if she would willingly reveal what she is.

Glancing back at Iruka, Rosiel let a warm smile spread across his lips, dispelling his previous coldness. His previous antagonistic demeanor vanished instantly.

"Well, let's see... I'm not a woman, firstly," he said, his smile slipping a little closer to a smirk. He turned and stalked back to his seat, crossing his legs elegantly and turning his attention back to Kakashi. There really wouldn't be any harm in telling them. It was doubtful anyone outside of this strange place would ever know he'd revealed himself. "And to answer your question, I should think it was obvious. I'm an angel."

Iruka's first reaction was to snort. "Oh, ha ha, very funny, Rosiel," he said sharply. Now that Rosiel had back of, at least physically, Iruka didn't feel so pressured to keep the peace. He retreated to the counter, leaning one hip against it, arms folded across his chest.

Iruka might be able to believe that Rosiel was male. Maybe. Rosiel was either a very good tranny or an extremely effeminate man. Iruka glanced at Kakashi to see how he would accept this "angel" nonsense.

To the first comment, Kakashi's eye twitched. Not... a... woman. Flipping through the pages of the Icha Icha Paradise in his mind, he recalled of the author mentioning something about such deception. Oh to think that he of all people would be fooled. It hurt his pride a bit.

To the second comment, he widened his eye in disbelief before hearing Iruka's reaction. Kakashi wasn't sure if he was trying to be cute, though his playful smirk made him lean towards that answer but anything was possible, right? There was no evidence of how or why he ended up here when clearly he was else where to begin with. Softening his expression, he let out a sigh and softly spoke out loud his pondering words. "An angel, ne~ (huh~)? Hmm..." Well, at least the man said something.

Iruka laughed and Rosiel shot the man a sharp look. It was one thing not to believe him, but quite another to mock him like that. But he said nothing yet.

Kakashi's twitch had not escaped him, either. "It is not as if I ever claimed to be either. You both merely assumed I was a woman. Am I not allowed to be a man? Am I too beautiful?" Nonsense, he was speaking. He shook his head and leaned back, silver hair spilling back over his shoulders as he tipped back to look at Iruka again.

"What can I do to prove it to you?"

Iruka caught himself staring at Rosiel. He shook his head a little to clear it, not that it did much. It was true that he had assumed, but Rosiel had never corrected him. In fact, not that Iruka thought about it, he had seemed amused by it. Iruka fought down the heat that was rising to his face. He could already feel that his ears were red. He looked away.

"I don't know," he muttered, "something angelic. Something we can't disprove." His eyes traveled of their own accord back to Rosiel. "Why didn't you say something?" Iruka himself wasn't sure whether he meant about Rosiel's gender, or his claim to be an angel.

"Maa maa (now now)" Kakashi gave a weak smile as Rosiel went on about not being 'allowed' to be a man. It wasn't that he wasn't allowed him to be, but it was only natural to think so. Especially according to how they, humans, have classified what was considered feminine and masculine. He just fit the temperament ( ... )

Sudden movements around highly trained men were, he knew, inadvisable. For mortals, at least. Rosiel barely thought twice before his three wings spread out behind him, stretching them fully before winching them in to curve around his body gracefully.

"Let's see. What makes me an angel... well, besides that YHWH made me? Besides that I rule Atziluth from the tower of Etemenanki? Besides that I could stop time on this entire pathetic world, or control both of you so completely that you would be my slaves even beyond your deaths? I don't know. What do you want me to show you?"

[[ooc: Atziluth is heaven, btw, and Etemenanki is the highest level of it. ♥]]

Iruka sat down. He blinked. He rubbed his eyes, then he blinked for a lot longer. When he opened his eyes again, the wings were still there, crowding the space around Rosiel even furled in.

Getting a hold on himself, Iruka formed the hand seals to dispel illusion. Nothing happened. He performed the hand seals to check for hallucinogens, and again for poisons, and again for narcotics because he couldn't think of anything else. Nothing, nada, and zilch.

Iruka wasn't sure if the fluttering in his stomach was fear, guilt, or awe. Probably a mix of all three. Even if he wasn't what he said to be (and there was a power and conviction in Rosiel's voice that told Iruka it was foolish to disbelieve), the wings were a natural part of his body. Iruka pressed his fingers to his eyes and said nothing, at a loss for words.

Let Kakashi deal with it.

As a slight movement was detected, Kakashi quickly re-opened his left eye out of habit when his eyes couldn't believe what they were seeing. He's seen crazy things in his lifetime but this one was truly something. The wings that grew beautifully from the man also had chakra meridians running through them, indicating their connection. Those wings were real ( ... )

Rosiel ticked them off on his fingers as he spoke. "Atziluth is Heaven, Etemenanki is the highest point therein, and YHWH... YHWH, God, Kami... you mortals have so many names for him..."

He glanced around the shop for a moment, and when his eyes finally returned to Kakashi's he smiled reassuringly. "It's not a threat, you know. If I was going to harm either of you, I would have done it long before now. I'm jsut trying to think. I don't often do any low-level... 'miracles.'"

True enough. There was no reaosn to. And so what if he'd stolen that word from his demon acquaintance earlier? It was a good way of putting it.

"Miracles," Iruka repeated. He shook his head. "Look, this is..." He searched for a word to describe the situation, and couldn't find one. Iruka sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. "What we need to be doing is trying to figure out a way to get out of here. I know you wouldn't harm me, Rosiel." 'I would hope so, anyway," he thought.

That's it. Compartmentalize. Deal with the undealable later. "Kakashi, did you notice anything about the town we're in?"

Softly he repeated the man's words through his mask. "...Kami, ne (huh)..." The terminology was surely strange but he got the point. The imagery was still of the 'angels' he knew of. He just never expected to actually meet one ( ... )
