So I went on a trip

I've been busy doing things rather than posting about them.

I went to California, first to San Diego to see Jocelyn perform, and then I bopped up to Chico where my parents are, just to check on them.

Jocelyn was doing great. The performance was great. There are 15 kids in the program -- 14 girls and one boy. They put on an hour plus show. In theory we will be receiving professional video, which will be useful to cut out pieces for audition videos, but since we didn't know when we'd actually receive that, whenever I saw she was going to have a big part in a segment, I clicked record on my phone. Thus, these videos start in the middle of their segments, and the quality is somewhat lame. But we have them NOW rather than months from now. Each is about 3-4 minutes long.

Chinese pole.
Jocelyn is wearing a maroon shirt. The cool thing here is she's never done pole before attending this summer program.

Rope.
Harder to follow her here, as they're all wearing identical costumes. Jocelyn is the one with the shortest hair. She starts out on the right-most rope. At about 1:20 she's on the left-most rope doing a trick called "back-lever" (which is really hard) in parallel with the girl on the right-most rope. The two of them are really well matched.

Straps.
Jocelyn starts out on the left-most pair of straps, wearing a red vest. Again working in parallel with the same other girl. This segment is inspired by West Side Story.

Teeter board.
Jocelyn starts out on the right hand side of the board. She doesn't do the coolest stuff, but the thing about teeter board is NONE of these kids had ever done this before this summer!
