road sign tour of new england

Jul 04, 2013 13:40

Last July 4 I went on a bike ride. This year I did too, but not nearly as post-worthy. We drove the electric car to a charging station in Bridgewater and rode south on a loop, ending back at the charging station, which was at a Chili's so we had lunch. 29.31 miles in 2:23 for an average of 12.3. Max speed 24.5 (not much in the way of hills to boost speed).

The interesting sign here was me being confused briefly after seeing a sign for a business advertising "Mold and Machine". Took a moment before I realized it was a different mold than you'd have in "mold and mildew"...

On earlier trips I found two interesting signs.

Those of you who have been on the House Tour at my house know that it starts with "This house was built as a summer home in 1903 by Nathan Barton of Reed & Barton Silverware..." I thought it was massively cool to find remnants of this business in Easton:

This next sign was found in Southboro on Farm Rd. Perry's at the inconveniently located camp again this summer so I'm doing my exercise bicycling up there after dropping him and before going to work.
