This morning I went fishing at a small lake I discovered on my own. It's not famous for anything. It's not even listed as a fishing lake in any Google search I tried. It's been stocked in years past, but if you're looking for "quiet" lake fishing, this is where you go.
It was very possible I'd not catch or even SEE any fish. But I wanted to try it. It's fairly close. And it's on 2.5 miles of forest service road. No camp grounds, nothing.
Getting away, sounded very good. It was a long week.
Being somewhere totally new... That's the draw. And, maybe I'd catch something.
So off I popped at 7 am. On the lake by 8! Even with SUPER slow driving on the iffy dirt road. Look out lil squirrel. I'm not stopping for you!
There were some people camping out, but only one group where I parked. I was the only one on the lake for the first hour! After that, just two others joined me.
I caught this beautiful guy about 9:30. I thought about eating him. But at this point, I'm not into it. He gets to swim another day.
I caught two more lovelies, all on the same fly. This is a fly I used when I went with Tammy on Hosmer. It's a very very good fly!
The wind got really strong about 10:30. I was having a very hard time getting anywhere I wanted to go.
I was safe. I'm sure of it. But just couldn't maneuver. Frustrating. I wanted to stay longer! But three fish in an hour is pretty great.
And I was somewhere new, basically alone! I accomplished all I set out to. It was good.
I packed it all up and headed home. I'll go again, for sure. Maybe Tammy will come too. I feel brave for doing it. And it paid off!!
I'm getting slightly better at taking pics of the fish. Still horrible tho. I didn't get pics of the others 😂. Lame. This is why I need Tammy!
