So... Hudlin is leaving Black Panther. Without going in to the issue of whether his run was any good or not, or what Black Panther should be, they just renumbered and relaunched the book with a new volume. 6 issues in, they're taking the writer off it ( Read more... )

I honestly think the only reason that the book got renumbered was because of the whole "ZOMG FEMALE BLACK PANTHER" event. You know, "drastic" change in style and whatnot.

Though they didn't do it with Captain America after he, you know, so.

Ms. Marvel didn't go to renumbering when it became Karla Sofen's book.

It's just the decision to change the writer so soon after the relaunch that makes no sense. Imagine if Pak was taken off Incredible Herc before the first arc was even out in shops; what sense does it make?

That decision is what's making me think that the book only got renumbered because of the change in protagonist. Besides, Ms. Marvel is not dead, and there's no way in hell that the person starrng in that book at the moment will be permanent (because she's a villain).

I'm thinking that the book was simply planned out to go like this but someone at publicity or even the higher ups thought "I know, we'll make this a #1 so it makes more money!"

It doesn't make sense, but then again, the people who take these decisions often don't know anything about sense at all.
