At work a lady came back tot he hotel. She spent five hours in the hospital with her son who had some srange symptoms in the middle of their holiday. They arrived at the hotel to find the garage door closed (as I was busy mopping up water from a broken toilet. A lot of water because the guest was an idiot) and then she asked the guy at the desk if she could have a 2pm checkout.

"Nope, I can do 1pm, but you will have to call down to the desk after 7 to check with the manager for a 2pm"

My jaw hit the floor.

first of all, we aren't full the next day. Not even close. give the guests a break.

Secondly, the managers gave you empowerment, use it

I tell you the staff here are either timid or stupid. Sadly, when they are too timid, they become stupid in what they do for the guest.

Guest services isn't really their forté here.
