Think it's kosher to post that separately during the holiday season, as a gift for the person for whom I wrote it?
Hm, well...was it, like, inspired by someone's prompt? Or you just wanted to write something in one of your offered fandoms and went ahead, and then weren't matched for that one? Or both?
See, after the main story-uploading is closed, the mods open up "Yuletide Madness," in which all the unused prompts are put up for grabs for anyone who wants to write 'em. So if you wrote to a prompt, that might be the way to go. (Assuming that that's not the one their author picked - you've probably got a two out of three chance there.)
If, on the other hand, you just wanted to write a story as a present for someone not your recipient, or for the fandom at large, and it's really not prompt-related or anything, then you can totally just post it anytime, including Christmas or their winter holiday of choice. But I wouldn't designate it as a Yuletide fic, in that case, since it wasn't really through their auspices. [/my two cents]
By the way, you are totally a RAWK STAR for that NaNo word count. *is impressed*
Also, if you want to talk about your Yuletide stuff in a non-stealthy, specific kinda way, you can email me at earthlygarden at gmail dot com. My other beta-by-prearranged-pact and I have been nattering on for a few days now. Though you should be glad you missed my panic about not getting my prompt letter. ^_^
Heh, it was inspired by a friend's request, but we weren't matched for it. marag suggested that I post to the Yuletide archive after I've fulfilled my primary assignment obligations. But that is a good idea - I could wait and see if I could write anything for "Yuletide Madness."
And I will definitely email you re: Yuletide. I'm glad you finally received your letter - I was going nuts after just a few hours' delay :-)
