You've gone down four dress sizes and kept your boobs? Damn you.
My coach and I both occasionally lament the fact that our bodies seem to determine weight loss as "hey, here's a bunch of spare fat!" and we go down to barely B cups. Meanwhile, my hips are alive and well.
Wedding wear: I would look for something with a longish skirt, and/or separates. For a party that big it sounds like it'll be formal, so muted colors and classic styling.
Club wear: something that you can dance in (vinyl can be uncomfortable). Something you want to dance in.
Yeah, I was pretty impressed! The boobs have really hung in there! All the weight has come off my torso and thighs. Not much loss in the hips, unfortunately, but I guess you can't have everything :-)
You should write a letter of complaint to your body. B-cup? Totally unfair!
And thanks for the advice abotu clothing options. I think I will definitely stay away from vinyl. *shudders*
meresy simply has to join us! mr_t00by likes science AND politics. And doesn't think fannishness is all that weird (either that or it amuses him too much to mention this).
Also, mr_t00by must try poutine. He'll think he's died and gone to cholesterol heaven. Maybe we can find the actual, rather than the Ontario, variety.
Go, you, you sexy thang! So, when you try something on, you want to pay attention to your very first reaction when you see it in the mirror. If you immediately go "Wow!" buy it. If you have to talk yourself into it or you're not sure--don't
( ... )
Hmm, y'know, I've always thought I was a Winter, too! We did the seasons-testing thing in high school and that was my result. I should try out maroon/burgandy and see if it makes me look a little Vulcanish.
And I was going to aim for something in a dark teal! I love that shade, and if I find something like that, I will snap it up in an instant. I'll keep that first-impression rule in mind, too :-)
Oh, also, the wedding thing: I guess it is weird to be 25 and a wedding virgin. But then I've never been to a funeral, either. *shrug*
I think it's the combination of having an incredibly small immediate and extended family, being the oldest of this generation of kids (no cousins getting married, for example, as they're all under 20) and being friends with so many gay guys in high school and college :-) All of my gal friends are still single, too.
You should totally just come to H&M and I'll help you pick clothes. ;D
I agree with the comment above, too. Definitely go with a colour that stands out for you, that makes you look great, even if it's not necessarily the 'right' colour for the reason. Damn being right. XD As for styles, I still think that knee-length-ish cocktail dresses are nice for weddings and for more formal events where you maybe don't want to be the most dressed up. That's generally for the bride and the bridal party.
(I've only ever been to two weddings in my whole life and one of them was when I was five. I totally understand.)
Ha! Y'know, for the first few weeks I kept reading "H&M" as "HMV" and I kept wondering why you were getting such terrific discounts on clothes ;-) But if this fails, I will TOTALLY come up to TO and let you outfit me. I'm kind of bad at this sort of thing, Leah. Fashion escapes me!
That said, your advice sounds good. And I'll definitely try not to be the most dressed-up one there. Or wear white.
It escapes me, too, most of the time, but I seem to be a pretty good judge at what looks good on OTHER people. XD I keep getting asked in the fitting rooms and people seem to like my suggestions, so... hey. I'm useful!
