I'm heading up to the big mall here in the Large Industrial City to purchase a dress. Or perhaps two.
My friends A and J are getting married in October and
scarfe and I have been invited. There will be almost three hundred people at the formal reception, there will be dancing, and I expect there will also be much drinking and celebrating and eating of cake. As I have never, ever been to a wedding, I'm not entirely sure what to expect. So, given that the wedding is in early fall, what colour/style should I be looking for? Any advice from you hardy wedding-goers? We're not in the bridal party or anything, but I'd like to get something very nice. It's a good excuse to buy a formal dress, right?
I'm also going to look around for a sexy dress for
con_txt's Disco Duck on Saturday night.
omphale23 suggested "club wear," which I interpreted as, "show off your cleavage!" As I have ample boobage, that shouldn't be a problem. A corset, maybe? With a cute skirt? I've gone down about four dress sizes since I started exercising in January, and I'm feeling much more positive about my body than I have in...ever, really. So the sky's the limit, or at least as much "sky" as you can cram onto a curvy size-10 frame.
On a wildly different note, I'm writing up the For Those Who Hunt the Wounded Down entry for this week's instalment of
the_ckr_files, and I was hoping someone had an article or two about the movie squirrelled away. I've found a couple of different scholarly articles about the book in Canadian literature journals that briefly reference the film, but unless you want to hear about the Canadian realist movement, well, that might not be totally appropriate. Any help, chicas?
And finally, many happy returns to
primroseburrows! Happy birthday, Prim! I had a ball meeting you last summer and hanging out for the Toronto Film Festival! And I did write you a neat little Caroline Fraser story, but it's not quite done (structure is not my friend). I hope very much to present it to you in person in July. (You'll be up here again before
can_con2008, right?) Have an excellent birthday, kiddo!
