Reader's Comments: I recently recced this story and identified it as one of the "stories of my heart" over at ds_recsredux. I really do think this story (along with the sequels Ashes, Ashes We All Fall Down and The Steadfast Tin Soldier) represents the best of what due South fanfiction has to offer. Hth crafts a compelling and absorbing narrative here while providing amazing insight and deep, poignant characterization of Fraser and his Rays.
I'm not sure this complex first-person narrative makes for a great podfic, but I thought it was worth a shot. Please let me know what you think, and do send Hth some feedback. I'm hoping to have the rest of the trilogy recorded and posted before bitchinparty. (It's a long flight to Seattle! Podfic is essential!) Happy listening, folks.
