Should I be concerned?

scarfe, the fangirl-approved boyfriend of awesomeness, just said something that I find both deeply amusing and of some concern.

We rented Zodiac to watch tonight (along with The Good German and Down to the Bone (eeee Hugh Dillon!) and scarfe said of Zodiac: "It's got Mark Rufallo, Jake Gyllenhaal and Robert Downey Jr. That's the three faces of sexiness, right there."

I don't question his right to say it. He's a heterosexual man and is clearly quite comfortable with his orientation. But I do reserve the right to question his taste. Seriously, Mark Ruffalo? Which face of sexiness is he supposed to represent? We have a movie with Hugh Dillon sitting right there on the coffee table! I need to come up with some sort of comparison chart.

In other news, I went to church today for the first time in months, and after the service I went to a cafe and wrote five hundred words of Kowalski giving Fraser a blow job. \o/

After satisfying the day's literary ambitions I went over to the neighbourhood bookstore and picked up a beautiful edition of Marquez's 100 Years of Solitude (which I have not read despite holding two English degrees), a new Nick Hornby novel, Melissa Banks' Wonder Spot (A Girls' Guide to Hunting and Fishing remains one of my favorite short story collections) and Consumption, Kevin Patterson's fiction novel about a young Inuit woman who is evacuated from her home on the tundra and sent south to a tuberculosis sanatorium, only to return to the far north as an adult. So far it's a very absorbing read, and it includes a lot of very useful information about traditional Inuit cultural and linguistic practises in the 1950s and 1960s, right before the big push to government-funded towns and settlements began in the Canadian arctic. I'm reading it to get a better sense of what Fraser's childhood must have been like, and so far it's been quite eye-opening. The prose is a little affected and the characters are a bit flat so far, but I'm only about fifty pages in.

So that's my day. *wanders off to read*
