Okay. Here goes.

1. It depends on the fish. I grew up with fishing and cleaning fish and such, so it's hard for me to get too attached to them. After all, strictly speaking the point of fish is to taste good with cocktail sauce.

But at the same time, the two times that I've bought fish as pets and had them eventually die, I was really upset. Because they had *personality* and I felt like I was a horrible person for not being able to save them.

Then again, one of my clearest childhood memories is of our three goldfish committing fishy suicide on a hot summer day. It's not a sad memory.

So I guess my short answer is yes. Plus lunch.

2) It's a silly way to protest (the flag is rarely the most effective symbol of anything) because people ignore the point of the action and fixate on the fact that it was a flag. I rarely see people burning flags and then managing to present the sort of argument that makes me think, "yeah, okay. That was a good idea. I can see why they burned a flag to make that point."

That said, it should absolutely be legal, as a form of protest that harms no one. Why have a flag if people can't use it how they see fit?

And the debate over it wastes time that could be better spent solving real political problems.

3) Very little squicks me, really. I may get a bit annoyed at certain things (purple penises, for some reason, always make me giggle) but I don't think I've ever thought, "ew! I can't believe they wrote that!" Drooling cocks, maybe. Even then, I think it's more the thinking that there must be a sexier way to write it, rather than a real squick.

I'm trying to come up with something, but at best my issues are about preferences, rather than the sort of serious complaints/refusals to read that I think of when I use the term squick.

4) Oh, man. I think CKR, if I absolutely had to pick one. Because he's hot, and he's a little damaged. And I'm an absolute sucker for a guy who makes bad decisions.

That said, I fail to see the point of choosing. I love them both, for very different reasons. I don't believe in making decisions. Not when it comes to pretty, talented Canadians.

*whines*

Why does everyone want me to pick just one option? PG or CKR, vodka or schnapps, boys or girls, marriage or making out with fangirls...

5. I write to write, although feedback is wonderful. I write everything (theory, fic, poetry, blogposts) because I like to play with language, and I tend to think in text. I would write even if no one was reading--and have for years, if the number of journals I've got floating around in boxes downstairs is any indication.

That said, I certainly write more often if people express an interest in something. And things that it wouldn't occur to me to create--sequels and new fandoms and such--are often a result of feedback that I get.

I feel like I'm really bad at answering questions, because my whole thing with causality and categories is weird for a variety of reasons. I don't pick things, really--or if I do, it's a temporary thing. I pick them until I don't. Doesn't even need to be a reason.

I'm still having a blast with reading people's answers and stuff, though. :D
