If I don't write, I will go bananas. This is true. Writing for me equals to staying sane. Writing restores my life like downing health potions on the quick does for my video game characters. But I would be lying if I said writing was as painless and easy as drinking a health potion. Certainly the benefits of writing do not come as quickly as the benefits of injecting yourself in Silent Hill with the contents of an ampoule. No instant life force or stamina reinforcement. No easy way out. Unless it's one of those things that write itself. Those are rare. Maybe rarer than sightings of Elvis in a tutu. I'll always remember how it feels, but I also know that to have that happen on a constant basis is not normal. At the very least, it's extremely unfair.
So, I write. Even though the process itself may not be entirely pleasant. Because the result justifies the whole process. The clarity in my mind that comes after is something only writing can do. It untangles my thoughts, lifts my mood and makes me feel like I care about myself. I need this in order to function.
