Bullshit

The death penalty is bullshit, straight up...that is all there is to it. There are no moral advantages to it, only financial ones, and it is primitave and inhumane for today's society. Fucking Absurd. Tonight, Tookie Williams will be executed. He was the cofounder of the crips, one of the largest, worst gangs in LA, and he got convicted for the ( Read more... )

okay...now...sorry for the interuption my laptop needed some lovin from the wall outlet. Anywho, as I was saying, it often seems to be forgotten that these people have loved ones too, and when people speak of the poor, relatives and friends of those who got killed, and their suffering, and how unfair it is, is it really the moral thing to do, in acknowledging that horrible pain and suffering, to turn and bring it to more individuals?
I missed the first part of your response earlier...it didn't show on my screen...but I'm not sure who you are...but did you ever have sociology with Mrs. Friehoffer? Did you take that field trip to the prison in Lexington? Hearing any of those guys talk, seeing them cry, about loosing their lives over a stupid mistake they made...it makes you understand, or at least begin to, it makes you fear loosing what you have, and appreciate it more. Most of those guys were lifers, some were only 20 years or so...but even them, they had such a powerful message it was insane. So, if you don't think spending your life in jail is a reprimand, then please...justify that. Furthermore(have I said that already?, I usually say it too much, oh well) spending life in prison is often harder time than dying, seeing as once you die, you are free of guilt, and free of the harsh life of prison. Finally, if left alive, you can deliver messages to more people, on a more personal level you can explain how horrible jail is, how much you miss your family and the simple pleasures we take for granted. If you are dead, they say...oh shit...that guy got killed cause he was in a gang. Which, I believe...(not sure though) is a pretty understood risk when joining a gang. So, it would appear, these guys have already proven that death doesn't scare them that much...yet Tookie had a chance to stop younger generations from joining gangs, and he was trying...but now, virtually no one 5 or 10 years from now will remember tookie, let alone be influenced by him, so no, his death serves less of a demonstration to gangs than leaving him alive could, and would have.
