Perkee came back from our two-hour visit to Spokane with two ticks on board, one loose and one burrowed into her neck (successfully removed intact and alive using the tweezers-below-the-neck-and-don't-be-afraid-to-tweeze-some-skin method). The loose one, well, that one woke me up in the middle of the night, crawling on my arm.
The relative scarcity of ticks must be one of the greatest advantages of living on the west side of the Cascades, just as the total absence of them is one of the greatest advantages of living in Alaska.
[Update: 3rd tick found and removed this evening. This tick also came out intact, alive, and ambulatory, and joined its comrade in the sewers of Downtown Everett.]
[random TMI: Performed both tick removals wearing a latex glove. Aiye, the scent of latex is sexy!]
