I decided a little while ago to stop wasting money on Ikea, and buying only furniture that Id be keeping once I buy into a condo. So in the past week Ive picked up 2 of 3 new chairs Ive had my eyes on..
This first one I got was a Herman Miller Eames designed DCM (Dining Chair Metal..) Eames used this kinda code for their various chairs/tables..
1st letter (for height) D= Dining, L= Lounge, R= Rocking, M= Medium, P= Pivoting, C= Coffee
2nd letter (for type of seat) C= Chair, A= Armshell, S= Sideshell, t= table, K= Wireshell
3rd letter (for base material) M= Metal, W= Wood, R= Rod, X= 4 point rod leg, T= Tilt, C= Cast aluminum, S= Stacking
(Julien, my 1/2 silver bengal, has claimed this as HIS chair)
I bought this chair because Ive been sitting on top of a combo amplifier that im selling, to put on my shoes in the AM.. Also I wanted a vintage designer piece that was Dining chair height that could be used if I have more than 2 people over for dinner..
The other chair I bought, is again Herman Miller designed by Eames.. But is from his/her Aluminum group.. These were chairs originally designed for home use, but have ended up being used in offices more so than not.. I had a fake Aluminum group chair, though not the same model, that cost me the same amount, yet started falling apart a week after getting it.. the original I picked up last night was made in 1981 and is in great structual shape.. here's a picture the old owner had up as his ad.
