"Have we figured out what it it?" Fury never looked worried, but Loki new his boss was concerned.
"They call themselves the Chitauri; they're here for war."
"Is that so?"
"Nick, this might be a good time for you to prove the Initiative will work."
"It's an idea; but I don't think that they're going to work together just because the Earth is on the brink of war."
"No, they won't. We need a good reason, a very good reason, to get them together."
Fury looked thoughtful, and then sighed.
"You need to attach yourself to these Chitauri; offer them the Tesseract."
"You want me to join the enemy?"
"Yes."

After Shield 'captured' Loki, Coulson was the first to visit.
"It's not going to be enough, Phill. They have nothing in common, not enough reason to work together. They need something to band around."
"I know. Have you got any ideas?"
"One. Maybe. I don't think you're going to like it."
"What's the plan?"
"I need to kill you. They look up to you, and if I'm the one to...well, they'll see me as the ultimate enemy and do anything to stop me."
"Sound in theory, but how are you going to make it work?"
"I am a god, Phill. I can do anything. Incidentally, do you have those Captain America collector cards with you?"
Illusions were a piece of cake to a magician of his caliber.

Load of nonsense. The Avengers might have won the battle and saved the day, but Loki was not happy about it.
"You let the Hulk beat me into the floor! Really Nick!"
"You destroyed the carrier and millions of dollars worth of government property and nearly sent us crashing to our deaths."
"I got your team together, and you nearly let said team kill me. I should quit, I should totally quit. The money you pay me isn't nearly enough for me to deal with this."
"What's this about quitting?"
"Phill! Your back out of hiding."
"Loki. I must say, you are one hell of an actor."
"I was pretty good, wasn't I. All that's left to do is tell my brother and his lot that I'm not actually the enemy. That's going to be so much fun."
"We'll handle it during the debrief."
The newly named Avengers were sitting around a table in Stark Tower waiting for Fury to arrive. He'd Insisted on a meeting before they went their separate ways. At six precisely, he arrived, and not alone.
"God, Phill?" exclaimed Tony "You - is this some kind of joke?"
"No joke." Fury answered "You needed a push, so we gave you one."
"I saw me brother attack him, and Loki never misses. How is this possible?"
"Your right about Loki never missing. He's won every pub game of darts I've seen him play." Phill said, mostly to the air, but it got the desired effect. There was a clamour of noise, and Fury had to yell to quiet everyone.
"Enough. There is no need to shout the rest of the building down. Yes, Shield knows Loki; he's one of our best consultants. When we received information that Earth was under threat we decided to put the Avengers Initiative back on the table. Loki's job was to make sure that you ladies found some way of working together."
"So what you're your saying is" began Steve "that our number one enemy is actually a fellow agent. He attacked us; he brainwashed Clint."
At this, Clint looked chastised.
"He was supposed too, actually. All part of the plan."
"So now what?" asked Tony
"Now," came a slick voice from the door "we have to learn how to get along."
Loki grinned sharply, leaning against the door-frame; black suit perfectly pressed, hair loose.
"Won't that be fun."

Really good job with this fill; I love the use of dialogue to illustrate the scenes. I can practically see the character's facial expressions in my mind just from reading what they say.
Awesome job!
Maybe there will be a.. extension...? 8D It feels like there is so much potential for more. >w
