It was annoying, being compared to Abel for as long as he knew. Both of them were interested in Norway, Iceland could admit, but Denmark had a much easier time than him-it wouldn’t be incest if he and Norway got together. At least, not as bad as if he and Norway got together.
Emil had to admit that Lukas did know a lot about the both of them-he could get the Danish man to shut up, and he could comfort him when needed. That’s part of the reason he loves Lukas, his “older brother”.
He also loves the way that Norway would know when he needed to be alone, and knew when exactly to interfere. He loved that his “older brother” would be there to show him what he needed.
However, since he was competing with Denmark for Norway’s affection, he was always compared to the Danish man. He didn’t like how they kept commenting on the minute chance he had-it was still better than nothing! He hated how they said that Abel had a better than him-they kept saying that there was so much chemistry between the two.
Iceland knew better, however. He often found Norway staring at a wall, probably glaring, and commenting that he wished Denmark was there just so he could berate him. Even though he wanted to smile, he kept his apathetic expression as his “brother” taught him.
Emil wanted a lot of things, but the best thing that could happen would be that Lukas sees him as something more than a brother. He hates waiting, and waiting for Lukas is becoming difficult-it was always difficult.
It’s more difficult than before since he’s also going up against his friend, Denmark. He doesn’t like the male, usually, but it’s a bit hard doing that, waiting for something that might not happen. It’s hard waiting for his “brother” to notice that he’s got two people wanting him, loving him.
It’s even harder when Denmark ups the stakes-Emil hates losing, however, and accepted. The two would vie for his affection, for anything that screamed, “I love you”, and they would fight for the Norwegian. When one or the other won, they would go visit the “loser”, and do what they want. If he, Iceland won, he would like to think that he would gloat, but he knew that he would actually try to comfort Denmark over that.
He knew the Dane would do the same for him-they might love the same person, but they weren’t so heartless as to mock the person they loved in a familial way. He knew that he would be grateful if Norway did fall in love with Denmark. Even if he was heart-broken, he would be happy that his “love” had found someone, even if it wasn’t him.
He wasn’t that cruel-he wouldn’t wish Abel or Lukas any ill will. He would just smile happily and allow them to be happy together, and he was sure that Denmark felt the same way. So, in a way, they were standing side by side, trying to obtain one goal. Even if they didn’t reach it, they would be happy for the other who did.
