Wherein We Have a Two Year Old

Sep 08, 2009 09:35

So we were told that having a lovebird, or any parrot, is about like having a two year old. In this case, like having a two year old for the next 15 years. They are so right.

Widget does this thing where he starts yawning and clearly gets very sleepy, but won't settle down, and then gets grumpy and starts biting and generally throwing the tiny lovebird equivalent, of a tantrum. He won't go back in his cage if he can possibly wriggle out of it, but as soon as you manage to get him on his perch he falls asleep.

He's also gotten really good at flying all over the living room and dining room at alarming speeds. It's enough of a thing that we're going to take him in to get his wings fully clipped soon, which I hope he doesn't get too upset about. He's smacked into windows a couple of times, and it's been giving us heart attacks.

In other news, it was a pretty productive weekend. The bedroom is cleaner than it has been in a while (the whole house, really, just in time for me to explode it with Aralis things. Sigh), and I did a jewelry project I've been working on. I'd like to finish my other work in progress, but there are only so many hours in the day. Oh, I should really get pictures. I always forget to get pictures.

Bachelorette festivities were great fun, and according to a fun little victorian tradition, I am going to be abducted by aliens in the next year, but also build something awesome. I guess that's a wash, then? I admit that I am very excited about some projects I'm working on, so a fortune-telling thumbs up was nice.

Busy week this week. Fingers crossed.
