I am tired.
and poor.
we got out early from work today, I think because of the long weekend. it's weird, though, because yesterday the bosses were still debating over whether or not we'd get labor day off. these people are nuts.
also, we've had new temps twice this week. it's getting exhausting, because I have to train them. and interact. the guy yesterday was an ex- film exec from LA whose company got sued and lost...so he's out here trying to recoup, he says. I don't know. he talked a lot. the girl today was a recent college grad, really sweet, also from california (what are these people doing in Chicago? don't they know it's cold as f*ck?)
after work I walked over to a fabric shop on Wabash, right downtown near the Art Museum, to pick up fabric for a sewing class tomorrow. I shelled out $67 for the class and another $50 on materials (fabric, zippers, needles, thread, seam ripper...the lady emailed us a whole list). I feel like maybe I should've just gotten a sewing machine.
then I stopped at CVS to pick up my meds. my new insurance card hasn't come in yet, so I was prepared to suck it up and shell out-of-pocket for these pills. when the pharmacist rang it up it came to $220...and I wasn't prepared for that. the good news is it's enough to last me the next two months. and today was payday. but it's a chunk of change to lose all at once :/. the generic version was just announced in august, so yey, cheaper meds = happier me.
last night I saw Ball of Fire, a super cute movie with Barbara Stanwyck and Gary Cooper -- he's an encyclopedia-wriitng grammarian, she's a lounge singer / gangster's moll; fate brings them together, romance & hilarity ensue. there's a brilliant scene in a nightclub where she sings "Drum Boogie" and the drummer, who's so wild and intense, takes out a box of matchsticks and starts playing the matches on the box like a drum.
okay g'night peeps.
