easter and gay dreams

easter this year was lovely, despite the fact that my new shoes nearly killed me. since marshall and i live a couple of blocks away from church, we walked to meet my parents there sunday morning. my brand new (and super cute) shoes immediately started to dig into my toes. the stitching of the bow on top of the shoe ended up being very sharp and stiff against my soft little toes. i was also not used to the height of the heels. this made for a much longer walk to church and certainly more pain during mass than what i anticipated. :) church was nice and i was happy to see that a really nice man, who helped me a lot when i was an altar server, has (or is in the process of) become a deacon. he has just the slightest irish accent which makes him that much more pleasant to listen to. he's also super sweet and i can think of no one better to join the cloth. anyway, after church we headed over to my grandma's to visit for a bit. she seemed to be in good spirits, but she's sick again. she's got a nasty cough and we can only assume it will turn into pneumonia eventually, as it has many times before. she just doesn't have the strength to cough up the stuff in her lungs, she tires easily and ends up staying in bed. this turns what was just a cold into an infection and off she will go to the hospital. anyway, it was good to see her and hang out for a bit.

it was off to danville next to have dinner with my godparents and a few others. of course, when we arrived the masters was on TV (my godfather is a golf coach, it's only natural) and we, instead of socializing like my godmother would've preferred, watched through until the end. it was a sight to see, if you're into golf. :) anyway, there was tons of great food to eat and yummy drinks and wine to imbibe. marshall and i were charged with grilling the asparagus for our dinner. it turned into me turning the asparagus on the grill with 4 men telling me what to do and what the best way to grill the asparagus. *sigh* they came out delicious and perfectly cooked in the end, so there. my godmother sent marshall and i home with a care package which included leftovers from dinner, pita chips, triscuits, and hardboiled eggs. :) i always have such a great time with them and this easter was no different. it seems, though, i need to invite them and my parents over to cook for them, since my mom kept raving about how great of a cook i've become... such pressure!

i didn't manage to finish my project before easter, like i had hoped. my bike ride was much later than i would've wanted saturday afternoon and then marshall and i went out to dinner and shopping for the aforementioned new dress and shoes (i also picked up a new perfume: vera wang's "look"). this all took us into the later part of the night, not giving me very much time to get things done. i did what i could before going to bed, though. i spent much of monday working on this project (a 12-month programming plan for a children's library) and i got a lot of it done. most of it was typing out what i had handwritten in my notes, which was rather tedious. i also got my budget finished and all that saved in a nice excel spreadsheet. i finished writing everything monday night, but i continued to finalize it last night. i'm glad i gave it another look. there were a number of spots which needed to be cleaned up and i forgot to list my storytime schedule, which needed to be provided. i'm feeling OK with it. because the projects for this class are more creative and not necessarily research-based, i've been a little weary of what i turn in. so, we'll see how my teacher likes it. i have one last assignment for this class: a month-long storytime program, which schedules and plans for 3 different storytimes a week for 4 weeks. i might actually use my 12-month programming plan as a jumping-off point, since i came up with a lot of storytime books and activities while planning everything else.

i've received good news earlier this week. my library management professor finally gave back our 2 outstanding assignments. everyone got an A- on the first assignment (forces impacting libraries), which is kind of a cop-out for him. he probably didn't have time to grade everyone's papers and decided to give a "fair" grade. i'm not complaining, but still... for our second assignment (strategic plan) our group got an A. he told us it looked great and there were no comments or questions throughout our paper. i was really stoked about this grade. all of us in the group were rather weary about what to turn in and we were updating and editing right until the last minute. i also got an A on my storytime presentation for my children's programming class. i was really weary about this, considering i didn't cram as much into my video as a lot of other people in the class. so, yeah, i'm happy about my grades so far. last semester i got an A and a B and i'm looking at something similar, possibly a little better this semester. :)

last night i had a very vivid dream. i think the bulk of what happened was the result of this commercial. if you don't want to click, it's the extended version of a carl's jr commercial with padma (from top chef). she talks about how she's tasted every flavor around the world, but her most cherished was the western bacon cheeseburger. for about a minute and a half, the camera shows her devouring the six-dollar western bacon cheeseburger. she takes large bites, licks the juice and sauce running down her wrist and even stops to lick a little drop off her leg. oh yeah - she's wearing a very flowy summer dress. anyway, verygwen posted the video and i commented saying that i wouldn't want to BE the burger, but rather share if with padma and perhaps we could help clean each other up afterwards. :P

well, this lead to a very vivid dream of making out with a girl i went to elementary school with. i haven't seen or talk to hear since 8th grade graduation. just recently, sarah and i had talked about her and her mom. her mom was a very cool lady, but obviously a lesbian. she never told anyone about it, but as we got older we started to see the signs. she had a mullet, which was the biggest sign. :P anyway, back to the dream... i don't remember where we were, but we were at someone's house. the girl and i were flirting and being physical. it ended up turning into this very hot make out session. i think before we started making out, we were watching tv and talking about who we'd get sexy with, i think was the expression we used. the one thing i really vividly remember was her whispering in my ear that "she'd get sexy with me". the dream immediately changed and we were transported to this very dark building. we were walking around the building with celtcub and damneddonkey. i think we were leaving or something, but we ran into this trio of very large black men. they weren't very keen on gays. they asked who we were and celtcub mentioned he was quite gay and then they turned to me and i jokingly said "yup, i'm as butch-y as they come", or something to that extent. the trio left us alone, but we ended up staying for a few minutes to chat, of what i don't remember. the girl and i wanted to leave and i think right before i woke up we were back where we were before. the thing is, i was having a really good time in my dream. it wasn't just about the sex and sexual nature of it all, but there was this closeness that i craved in my dream and this girl was able to provide it. anyway, i begrudgingly woke up when my alarm went off.

grad-school, easter, dreams
