it's been a while since i last posted. i've already received complaints of the absence of updates, so here i am. a lot has happened, so i'll try and save your friends pages and keep things as brief as possible.
saturday
after having some awesome thai food the night before for
norcalpaco's birthday, we got to sleep in a little saturday morning. i got up and made torta for sarah and mike's housewarming party and then marshall and i headed to wheel away. as he talked to the repair shop, i chatted with one of their salesmen about road bikes. he first had me sit on a womens 48, but he noticed i have pretty long arms. then he had me try out a mens 49 (or small). the head-tube (the tube from the seat to the handle bars) is 1.5" longer on a mens. having this longer head-tube can accommodate my long legs and long arms (saying that just gives me the image in my head of a daddy-longlegs spider). at least i know what to look for now, when i search for a new bike. seems like, though, i'll end up buying this as my primary bike and sell my mountain bike.
saturday afternoon and into the night was sarah and mike's housewarming party. it was totally fun and awesome to chat with people i haven't seen in years and have a great time chatting with people who, essentially, are like family. the food was great and i ended up drinking a little too much. apparently, i was able to hide it from some people, as sarah said the other night she had no clue and kept pushing more and more drinks on me. :) but i just had a great time! after the party, we headed home for a ZA run in WoW. unfortunately for me, i was drunk and now don't remember much about the raid. i know at the time i could BARELY see the screen and where we were going. i only managed to die once, so i guess that's saying something... i ended up staying up much later than i should've and actually passed out on the couch and woke up to the comedy central roast of pamela anderson. *shudder*
sunday
sunday started out with our special breakfast at marie calender's breakfast buffet. we had a nice breakfast and afterwards headed to liam and paco's to hang out. i seriously could've fallen asleep on the couch - it's so damn comfortable! but we watched liam play "assassin's creed". looks like a much more difficult game i could manage. we finally got our day started, though, and ran our regular errands. sunday night we finished our scheduled kara sweep. we were going to take advantage of the sunday ZA restart, but not enough people were interested. fine with me because i was dead tired. plus...i wanted to play more lego star wars - the funnest game evar!! i love having a game to play with marshall that is NOT WoW. :P
tuesday
tuesday was our final softball game of the season. because we won 1 game, we made it to the "playoffs". yeah, that's a joke. in any case, we started out strong and after a series of really bull-shit calls from our umpire who was pretty much the other team's bitch, the game just got worse. i like to give umpires the benefit of the doubt, since they get such a bad rap anyway, but when it's so OBVIOUS that they're being an asshole - that's a different story. i apparently surprised everyone when i yelled from the dugout at the umpire saying "hope you're having a nice time celebrating with your fucking friends!". i mean, he was chit-chatting with the other team when the game ended. it was just really frustrating. but yeah, that game sucked. i'm just glad our season's over. i LOVE playing softball, just not with the majority of the people i was playing with this season.
wednesday
i participated in my very first grad-school online conference "call". we got to learn how to use "elluminate", our online conferencing software. it was really neat. what was even better was the fact that finally finished all the work required for my introductory course. i felt very accomplished. seriously, one of those assignments took me more than 2 hours to complete. i forgot what it was like to actually research. but yeah, i get the rest of the week and the weekend off from school. i can self-enroll starting tomorrow afternoon to one of my semester classes. i'm also taking next monday off, which is the official first day of classes. i'm taking that day to go to campus and buy school supplies. i need books, notebooks and a schedule/planner, and some software (adobe acrobat, for example). so yeah, last night was tiring, but i really did feel good about getting things done.
looking forward to the weekend
for the first time in, i THINK, 5 or 6 years marshall's dad, step-mom and sister are visiting us. they've been talking about visiting us since we moved in together, which was about 3 years ago. so, they're coming. they arrive tomorrow evening. we'll probably grab dinner and hang out. saturday morning is breakfast, probably, and then marshall's taking them up to SF for lunch and to allow him to register for his triathlon on sunday morning. whereas i'll be having lunch for my bff's mom that afternoon. then we're all coming back to my parent's house for a bbq and a parents' meet-and-greet type thing. i think that'll be fun. sunday morning is marshall's triathlon. we'll probably stay in the city for brunch or something before they all go home. it'll be busy and crazy, but i'm looking forward to it. this is another reason why i'm taking monday off. i know i'll need it...
stay tuned for more on the noodle...
