breast cancer petition

This is a petition to mandate that women undergoing mastectomies be allowed to stay in the hospital for 48 hours rather than be sent home the same day. To put this in perspective, I'm just having a lumpectomy and sentinal node biopsy, but if they remove my lymph nodes - not the entire breast and underlying pectoral muscles, just the lymph nodes - I'll have to stay overnight. While I really, really don't want to stay in the hospital overnight, if doctors say it's necessary insurance companies should not have the right to deny women the care they need.

I'd thought this was settled a decade ago, but apparently the bill never passed.
