So I've been mulling over some stuff lately, mostly having to do with Spartan Brass. For those of you who don't know about it, Spartan Brass is bascially the MSU Pep Band (but honestly, Spartan Brass sounds so much cooler). They play at basketball and hockey games. This kind of excites me, since basketball games get crazier than football, not to mention the basketball team has a better shot at doing well than football. They play all sorts of nifty stuff, according to my sister, and the Izzone loves them.
Now for the cons: Basketball season is LONG. VERY LONG. The time taken by practices doesn't seem to be as much as marching band, but performance times are worse, since games take place in the middle of the week. I still am having some mouthpiece trouble, but it should be alleviated soon, as I'm looking into buying 2 new ones, one small-shank for my baritone, and a large-shank for my euph. I'm worried that such a large amount of playing in a pep band setting would shred my chops for lessons and such.
But still....
I think I'll audition, see if I can even make it in, and then go from there.
Time to find some damn hot chocolate. Its cold down here.
