A bit of advice before I start: never buy a Medion computer. It'll break and won't get fixed for five weeks (maybe more) and you'll be forced to update from a Mac at a university computer lab. Now then.
This weekend was hellish, but I still had a magnificent time. Friday was the big parade, for which it rained the entire way. There's nothing like doing Series thru big-ass puddles, meaning you splash water up into your crotch (true story!). We got out of the pep rally, which was nice, because it gave me some time to dry all my shit out and take a nice hot shower, which kept me from going insane. Very nice indeed. Then there was Midnight Madness, which was very cool. People seemed to respond to us very well, and it was slightly amusing when the MSU dance team messed up when they were supposed to be collaborating with the drumline. Oh well, it just makes us look cool. I did make the mistake of staying the whole time, meaning I didn't get to leave until 1 AM saturday, with a 7:30 rehersal that morning.
Saturday was cold, wet and nasty. There, I said it. Other than that, it RULED. We beat the piss outta the Golden Gophers, which was awesome, as we were predicted to lose, and lose badly. It's always nice to get a big fat W every once in awhile. Here's hoping for another one next Saturday. Spartan Spectacular was verrrrry awesome. I never get tired of getting to run out into cheering people. Quite the contrast to pep band last year. Speaking of pep band, thanks to those of you who came out to watch us do our stuff. It was great getting to see almost everyone. This years seniors, however, merely confirmed my worries about leadership as not a one of them showed up (at least that I could see, my apologies to those who actually did). I mean, its an official pep band event, so why should none of the top people and officers not show? Oh well, their loss. It was a killer show and I wish I could do it again right now.
Our next show is going to be, in my opinion, one of the best ones at MSU ever. Drill-wise, it could stand to be a bit more complicated (its kinda hard to beat the script "State" from last years show at OSU), but musically, it kills everything that U of M can put on the field. They don't stand a chance. I mean, what song could you put up against "Pinball Wizard" and hope to win? Nothing, except maybe a full-length arrangement of Inna-gadda-davidda.
I'll be at home this weekend if any of you are so inclined to take a visit.
