I've been doing a lot of research lately. This started about a couple weeks ago when I came across a story that the US court of appeals ruled that Fox News was allowed to mislead the public, (thank you Brittany) meaning that Fox News wasn't even being held to the same standard of truthfulness that commercials must be.
I dug deeper and found that Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, and ABC have ALL fired journalists and producers for refusing to lie to the American public. This would imply that all of those news agencies are lying to you. Just google it and you'll find the stories.
So then the question would be, why are they lying to you?
I researched this as well. The official change in policy occurred in 2004 but its actually been going on for a long time.
The Pentagon is literally engaging in psychological warfare for your mind. That might sound harsh, but in essence that is what's going on.
Take the Iranian election for instance. For days, on every major news network we heard about how their election was stolen, how it was fraudulent. They said there was irregularity in the number of voters in each precinct.
What every major news agency didn't tell you, is that in Iran you can vote in any polling place, wherever you happen to be. You don't have to vote near your home. There were 40,000 different places you could vote in Iran. Each place was counted and sent to the central government. So yes, some places had more people voting then the population in that area, but other places were far less than usual. It all balanced out.
Add in the fact that Ahamdinijad was very popular among the poor, coming from a rural background himself, and the rural areas make up the major majority of Iran's population and is it really so farfetched that he won the election legitimately?
Yet the state department of the US government ordered Twitter to stay operating and continue circulating anti-Iranian government messages...but the US wasn't meddling in Iran's affairs at all right?
Check out infowars.com and truthnews.us, both are independent news agencies owned by semi-wealthy independent thinkers. I can't be certain how reliable they are, but there's no stories about fired reporters circulating about them, and they report stories that you will never see on any major news agency.
I know hardly anyone reads my LJ anymore, but I'm outraged. I'm urging everyone to do their own research if you don't believe me. Our media is compromised by the government and has been for quite some time. They only eerve to report stories that are in line with our government's agenda.
