That's an interesting topic actually. I personally don't think I am obligated to help people, and if I do, I do so because I have made the choice that I want to, not because I feel it's part of the job description or because I may get something nice for me in return.

I don't follow the threefold law at all. My interpretation of karma is more about cause and effect rather than good or bad. Everybody who practices magick is aware of the consequences of their actions, but it is down to the practitioner to decide what is appropriate for them. Magick itself doesn't have a moral value, and different people have different morals, and I think it is inappropriate to have rules personally. Rather that we should trust that people will do what is right for them, and understand that we may not agree with them.

When it comes to magick I only do it for other people if they ask me. If I think that someone could benefit in a good way from me working magick for them but they haven't asked them I won't do it. Some people have problems with the idea of magick, and that they may have only got the job they wanted, got the guy they wanted etc because of magick and that they are ineffectual on their own. I do however do magick that effects other people but is for my benefit without them knowing.

Although when it comes down to it all magick efects other people. If you do a spell to help a friend get a job and it works, it has effected all the other people who didn't get the job yet might have done had you not worked magick in the first place. It may be that the friend was not the best person for the job and struggles, and that customers or clients are effected adversely by them being employed over someone who would have been better.

That's what a mean about cause and effects. Magick with the best of intentions will have a negative effect somewhere down the line. That is why there is no point in giving it a moral value because it is meaningless. You my have been helpful to one person but unhelpful to another.
