2013 Icon Progression Meme

This month I posted twice, both posts consisting mostly of battle icons for theiconquest. First was a cancelled tv battle and the second included a really fun Fifth Element battle, a Guild Battle, and some other randoms. Most notably, I was to the point where I was fully comfortable with extracting images from backgrounds.

My favorite thing about this month was a challenge at tvrealm that required us to make graphics inspired by music genres: rock, pop, and classical. It was a really fun and challenging task to work with textures and bright colors that I might not typically choose. I also posted my results for a HUGE Once Upon a Time battle.

I posted FOUR TIMES in March! Crazy. Lots of these were for battles: Community, Farscape, Teen Wolf, Elementary, and a Guild battle. I love some of the icons from the TW battle but looking back I wish they were sharper. I also posted my first set for 20inspirations and the icons I made for the round of rumblr that I won.

In April, I posted some Anna Karenina icons I really liked, icons from a New Girl battle, and a few other icons that I quite like. The vibrancy of color starts to vary a lot depending on what I wanted from the cap and I use a bit more textures.

In May, I posted a lot of icons that I was and am really proud of: a fun and challenging set for 20inspirations, a Buffyverse battle at some other challenge icons, and an Atonement set for inspired20in20. I got really into chiaroscuro this month.

Another big month with four posts! Somehow, despite the fact that I was out of town for most of June, I managed to post lots of icons! There was a Game of Thrones battle (plus some other fandoms), Hannibal icons for yet another inspiring round at 20inspirations, a Harry Potter battle, and Teen Wolf for inspired20in20.

This month feels really random to me for some reason? There was a Hannibal post, randomly assigned Cinderella, and a multifandom post. I'm not used to making icons for animated sources so the Cinderella icons were a fun exercise in color experimentation for caps like this.

Another four post month! I really like a lot of the icons I posted this month; it's hard to choose only 4. Most notably, I posted a large group of Teen Wolf icons, a randomly assigned X-Files set, and two multifandom posts. Most of the colors were very muted and I was really into minimalist coloring like these two icons.

Again, four posts this month. I don't have much to say about this month except that I really enjoyed making this Top of the Lake set. There's something special about making icons from sources that suit your style really well and making these made me feel really calm and at peace.

Only one post this month and a not-very-focused multifandom post at that. Lots of variation in coloring and texture use in this one.

No posts this month. The end of October and November were really rough for me in real life and also creatively. I was so productive throughout the year that I was bound to burn out at some point, especially considering what was going on in my life.

I made two posts in December though many of the first post is what was salvageable from what was made in the previous month and early December. I was having an everything-I-make-sucks phase. The second post, posted today, is mostly icons for Secret Santa Gift Exchanges.
