Here I am, posting about Alias' 100th episode which I watched on TV Links cause I have far too many shows to tape.
As a 100th episode, I'd say that this is a rather disappointing episode. Placing Irina's return right before this episode was a major, albeit unavoidable, mistake. The combined awesome of Will and Anna Espinosa's returns are no match for the badass that is Lena Olin. However, in order to have Irina help deliver the baby and for Sydney to go on a mission, it would've been impossible to do otherwise. I seem to remember reading an interview about how the episode was a 'love letter to Sydney' but don't really see how. Besides the final scene with Will there wasn't much Sydney love.
That said, it was still an excellent episode. Bringing back plot points from S1 was a great idea and it was fun reminding my sister about what Page 47 was about as I barely remember it myself. I myself predicted that they would Project Helix Anna into Sydney from the anvilicious episode title. Although, all they have to do is dump Anna onto Mount Panaroma or whatever to stop her. Seeing Jasmine and Fred in the same room again was so awesome and geeky for me!
Jack's fatherliness to Sydney and grandfatherliness to Isabelle was so funny. The fact that he knows secret agents that are trained to change diapers is bloody hilarious. He's line about how knives shouldn't be left around Bristow women was so overprotective and totally Jack. Also, how the hell do Sydney and Jack know that Vaughn is alive? Their convo after rescuing Will seemed to suggest that.
Considering this was the 100th episode, you'd think that they'd fork out some money to make a new CGI train instead of recycling footage from last season's premiere. I spent the entire scene going 'Hey look! Reused footage!'. They even reused the same bloody set for all of the train scenes... Will and Syd getting into a First Class room for no real reason was very cute though.
Also, did anyone notice Sydney's giant post-preggers boobs? I've heard comments at
TWOP about how big Holly Marie Combs' boobs got on Charmed but this was just incredibly disturbing. I'm also wondering whether or not the Blood Red Bath of Genetic Mumbo-Jumbo gave Anna those cause, uncomfortable much?
Overall, I wish that they had either pushed Maternal Instinct to this spot or pushed the next episode to here, as the cliffhanger ending didn't really fit with such a landmark episode.
Nothing much else to report besides... although I really should upload those stupid walls I finished. I really love my new Alias icon, using Pin Light and gradients is fun!
