FF rant

I just finished reading an unfinished WIP on FF - took about two hours. Yeah, yeah FF is terrible - trust me, I know. It's just that the pairing/fandom is really rare to find good fanfics for [or any fanfic, really] so I sucked it up and decided to scrounge for decent fics there

I completely feel your pain, bb. That's probably my least favorite thing that fic authors do. I'm guilty of doing that, although in my defense, I was like 12 and it didn't happen more than like twice. Why? Because I figured out that a.) along the lines of what you said about the whole writing for yourself thing, and b.) you don't actually get more reviews when you do that when compared to when you don't, surprise! They'll figure it out. Until then, the rest of us just have to grit our teeth in frustration and either carry on or skip over those particular fics.

Agreed; people can tell and see when you're simply whining for reviews as opposed to just saying that they are appreciated.

This is why it is so so rare for me to venture to FF.net unless, like you said, fic is so rare that it's necessary. But sometimes, not even the biggest craving for fic is worth it.

Do you mind if I ask which fandom/pairing this was for? Purely for my curiosity :3

Yeah now I'm just gonna stick with LJ fics for that pairing - it's just too damn hard to find decent stuff there.

Heh, South Park Kenny/Butters. I feel like a douche reading fic that is about a show of 9 year olds but in my defense all fic is set many years in the future.

This. I saw it numerous times and it drove me nuts. If your fic is liked by people they'll review it. If people want it so badly there are other ways to get reviews.

I know, it's just sad people resort to begging and half the time it happens, their fic wasn't good to begin with.
