I just finished reading an unfinished WIP on FF - took about two hours. Yeah, yeah FF is terrible - trust me, I know. It's just that the pairing/fandom is really rare to find good fanfics for [or any fanfic, really] so I sucked it up and decided to scrounge for decent fics there.
This one was, well, good. She had decent grammar and no short, choppy sentences - she did occasionally get words wrong [forgetting to add an ed or just spelling errors] but overall it was readable and I kept at it.
Then on the third or fourth chapter she whined in the A/N how 'shes just not feeling inspired with it anymore and needs more reviews.'

That is like the LAMEST fucking thing you can do and it seems so, so prevalent on FF for writers.
"Ohhh I'm just not inspired, give me more praising reviews to get more chapters ohhhhh!"
That's just bullshit and every real, serious writer knows that. Most people start out obsessed with reviews and practically beg for attention but then once you get into it [if you're destined to write] you figure out you write for YOU and not for some three word praise that makes you feel good for a couple of minutes.
Write what you want, how you want it and once you're completely satisfied, you post it. You don't hash out some poorly written plotless shit-tastic blurb just because you want the satisfaction of a few positive comments. You dont get ~inspired from reviews; you get inspired by your own feelings and imagination.
Needless to say I was disappointed entirely by where it left off - there were about 12 chapters and then FINALLY in Ch 10 we see a little action going on between - what she stated - was the main pairing. Before it had literally been like four chapters of some other one that I still like but wasn't reading the fic for.
She finally ends the 12th and final chapter by saying "This has been in my hard drive for years and I just haven't been inspired to write it. Leave me good reviews and I'll continue." [it had been started in 2006 and she updated it in 2010] and then it's this fucked up 900 word dribblet and then ends THAT with "Well that's it for now...or is it? REVIEW!"
:| I read all that and wasted all that time for fucking nothing. Ugh to the fucking UGH.
I now wish I would have just backspaced after the first error.
